My lovely Bendish Blue hen called Storm has died. I found her 'asleep' in the hen house this morning. I posted about her back in May when she was very ill but somehow by a miracle she pulled through. She put on weight and started to lay eggs. Over the last week I noticed how light she had become and seemed to be off her food. However when I put some chopped up pear in the run last night she fought the other chickens for it!
I feel so sad. She was my favourite hen. I will miss the soft cooing sounds she used to make, her soft blue/grey feathers and gentle nature.
Goodbye Storm. I will miss you.
:-( poor you and poor storm. Sounds like she went very peacefully which is a blessing. We had an ill one this week which hubby had to put out of its misery, it is hard when they die isn't it :-(
ReplyDeleteHow sad for you. Of course you will miss her. At least you gave her a comfy and happy life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame for poor storm. I'm sure you will miss her lots, it's always hard to adjust when a pet dies. Juliex
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that. She sounds like she was wonderful.
ReplyDeletePoor you; poor Storm. She sounded a great character.

ReplyDeleteOh, how sad - poor Storm and poor you; it must have been so upsetting to find her xx
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry for your loss, I know it is hard to lose a loved friend like that xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry - its heartbreaking - two of our big New Hampshire Reds died naturally in their sleep but in July a fox got into the pen and killed our other four chickens and the two rabbits - I still get upset when I look out into the garden and they arent there :( Then I think what wonderful lives they did have and it makes me feel a bit better XX I'm sure Storm had a wonderful life and you should be very proud XXXX
ReplyDeleteR.I.P Storm -- hugs to you . Going back to your tree post our council has just attacked another of our parks .... why can't they leave stuff alone :-(
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry Simone, it's very hard loosing an animal friend as I know from experience.
ReplyDeleteTake comfort from the fact that you loved her and gave her a good life.

ReplyDeleteyou gave her such a good and happy life and it it seems she had an extra six months of life too. some hens do have sweet natures and i think she was very special. we will all remember her and feel honoured to have met her on your blog.
it is probably sunny today in her hen heaven xx
A Hug from NC to you. Uncanny how pets wrap themselves around our hearts and lives. What joy they bring... even if only for a little while.
