I have lived with clutter for so long, the worst place being the
craft/spare/box room. Yesterday I decided to tackle it head on! I was
in there for hours and there is still a weeks worth of boxes/piles to be
sorted out. What stuff do I keep? What should I get rid of? Will I
ever take up silk painting again or punch craft or crochet? What am I
going to do with all those polystyrene balls!!! The trouble is, when I
put things away I forget I have them. I am sure I have duplicate
purchases of certain items.
Anyway my main crafting
hobbies (at the moment) are making jewellery and paper craft. I have
put the jewellery making supplies on the raised shelf at the back of the
desk leaving the desk clear (yay!) to work on. Behind the desk I will
put clear boxes of my card and papers and pen pots and containers of
various scissors and tools. It all sounds very organised but it is
going to be a mammoth task.
Well, the job is underway.
It took many years to reach such a cluttered state so it would be
foolish of me to imagine that it will be a perfect space any time soon.
Hopefully I can now keep the tidy bits tidy and work my way towards
tackling the rest of it a little bit at a time. I certainly feel better
for making a start.
Sorting out is very satisfying, I know having just got my room sorted!! You find things you had completely forgotten about. Nothing like working in a tidy, sorted space!

I agree with Vivienne and I always feel as if I have actually achieved something when I have a good sort out even though I know it will all want doing again before long!
ReplyDeleteWhat you have done so far looks very organised! I always feel as if I have achieved somthing when I can see empty space again. We've just had a clearing out of the shed and garage and need a skip to take everything away:)
ReplyDeleteWell done. My study is the dumping ground for everything which has no other home and it's on my list to do as well. Little by little I think!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a big job, but now you have started it won't take so long.
ReplyDeleteEven making a small start is a start and there is a result already with a clear desk!
ReplyDeleteCould you keep a list of the things you have in a ringbinder? That way when you feel the need to start a project you could see if it's on the list.
If there is anything you want to get rid of you could see if there is a scrapstore near you who would appreciate the donation.

I love your storage units Simone, they're pretty. Just imagine the end result, having everything nice and tidy and within easy reach and you'll get there soon. having just said that that's something I need to remind myself of too.
ReplyDeleteLooking good Simone - I always find it is helpful to have a sort out just to remind yourself of what you already have!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Lisa. If you make a good list then things will not become duplicated and you'll know what not to buy because you've already got it on the list. Or you can just label all your boxes in an A to Z fashion, then all you have to do is open the box to find out what is there or not there. Anyway, you've made a good start and things will work themselves out in no time.
