At the Crossroads

She stood at the crossroads
Not knowing which path to take
And she stood at the crossroads

She stood at the crossroads
Paralysed with indecision
And she stood at the crossroads

She stood at the crossroads
People passed her by
And she stood at the crossroads

She stood at the crossroads
She stepped forward and then back
Returning to her place at the crossroads

She stood at the crossroads
She stood at the crossroads
She stood at the crossroads

  1. She bravely set off in one direction
Not knowing if it was the right way or not
She discovered that all roads lead to the finish
So which one to take mattered not!

  2. Very good Jane! The problem is having the courage to set off in any direction and then to keep on going!

  4. Haunting...
I do like Marigold Jam's comment. Sometimes it's good to trust our instincts, move forward and keep going.
    But easier said than done.

  5. Such a sad poem, Simone, the repetition does convey how the woman is stymied by her indecision and confusion. I hope the cloud of fear that is paralysing her lifts and she finds a way forward to happier and brighter times, Take care:)

  6. Maybe we just need a push...even the wrong road is a learning curve.
Wish I could take my own advice! xx

  7. Which path will she take I wonder? And will she take us along too?

  8. Perhaps her way is not to take a path. We are always trying so hard to get someplace else. Perhaps there are flowers at the crossroads, or she hears music playing and it leads her to wander across the fields... to tread her own way.
