I saw this spider on the shed door. Its body had a reddish metallic sheen. Any idea what it is? I have spent ages trying to identify it on line to no avail. It was about an inch big.
*I believe I have identified it. I think it is a garden spider or 'cross' spider on account of the white cross shaped marks on its back and the oak leaf shapes on its side as is shown on the UK Safari website. Info here.
No idea what it is but it is certainly beautiful as long as it stays on the shed door and doesn't come indoors! Isn't Nature wonderful?
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at the weird and wonderful creatures I find in my garden!
DeleteGlad you were able to identify the spider. It's an unusual colour. We've had one or two big ones indoors recently, we just catch them in a bug pot and put them outside as far away from the house as we can:)
ReplyDeleteI don't mind indoor spiders unless they are in the bedroom! I normally put a glass over them and paper underneath to catch them before putting them at the end of the front garden!
DeleteI never mind spiders - snakes are my fear!!
ReplyDeleteI never used to be afraid of snakes but I am growing more fearful of them as I get older.
DeleteWhat an amazing creature!!!
ReplyDeleteI got rather fond of it!
DeleteWhat an amazingly handsome creature! xo
ReplyDeleteYes! It was very striking against the pale wooden door!
DeleteA lovely photo of a beautiful specimen. Isn't Mother Nature an amazing artist?
ReplyDeleteShe is Sharon. This spider stopped me in my tracks and I had to have a closer look!
