Handmade Book

A lot of hand made went into this book; from the waxed covers and hand stitching....

..... to the tea dyed, baked and torn pages.

It's my first book so I experimented with just a few pages (I need to tea dye more!) and the book folds flat.  I would really like it to be jam packed with pages - a bumper volume!

I love the look and the feel of the pages.

Here's a close up of the front cover.  It has a slight smell of beeswax.  I am happy with the outcome but it took a lot of trial and error to get thus far!

  2. Looks great Simone! If I made one like that I would not be able to write in it for fear of spoiling it!!!

    1. Thanks Jane! Next time I might stamp on a few of the pages so they aren't just blank and then I will feel OK to write on them!

  6. Your first attempt is brilliant Simone - it actually looks like you have been making them for ages. I love artists books and enjoy going to see the Artist Book Fair each year in Manchester. I bet it feels wonderful to handle so much nicer than machine made notebooks.
You must write some of your poetry in it to keep. x
