Keeping Busy

I have been busy during lock down but don't have much to show for it.  The lily-of-the-valley in my front garden narrow border are now coming to an end.  I picked a few to show you in a Portmeirion posy vase that was gifted to me by my late Auntie Gladys.

As well as gardening I have been doing some free online courses with  OpenLearn  as recommended by my blogging friend Rosie.  The one I completed so far was Dutch Painting of the Golden Age - a period in history (17th Century) that fascinates me.  I have also been looking at all kinds of copyright free material with Project Gutenberg which is an online library of over 60,000 free e-books - mostly older literary works.  It has certainly kept me occupied and entertained!

I haven't yet got around to doing my other creative outlets such as collage, painting, embroidery etc. Hopefully I will allot some time to do so.

Keep well and stay safe!

  1. It sounds like you have stayed quite busy with an interesting variety of activities. I have been to the Project Gutenberg Library and I agree, there is a vast amount of free and worthwhile reading there. I love your lily-of-the-valleys! That is such a sweet and beautiful flower.

    1. Hi Rosie! The course was just 4 hours of study so luckily I didn't lose interest! My Auntie Gladys told me I was her favourite but it turned out later that she told everyone the same thing! Enjoy your weekend - sunny here so far. :)

  4. What a lovely little vase. I know I have some lily of the valley somewhere in the garden - I think the shrubs have grown too big now and are hiding them from view - I must go and seek them out, they do lok lovely displayed in that vase.x

    1. The flowers are in a shady North East sheltered spot in my garden Vivien. They seem to do very well there. Hope you find yours! x

  6. Your lily of the valley are lovely. Mine haven't yet bloomed and I'm not sure if they will or not. The plants I have aren't entirely established yet.

Not "having anything to show" for your time is perfectly fine. Sometimes the "evidence" of what we do can't be seen.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. The Lily-of-the-valley come up every year Anne with no nurturing from me at all! I think they prefer a cool, damp, shady spot in a poor soil. I look forward to seeing your garden in the spring when all the shoots are popping up! Have a lovely weekend too. :)
