Friday Flower Splash

Sunflower - the star of the show.

 Zinnia Elegans.

Another Zinnia Elegans.  I think if I was a flower I would be this one.  A bit dishevelled and quirky with a warm centre!

Pot Marigold otherwise known as Calendula.  The bees and butterflies adore this plant and I love its cheery colour.

The lavender.  Fresh and vibrant and my all time favourite.  I can never have too much lavender in the garden, even when it is straggly and windblown.  It evokes a sense of the past to me and I feel a deep connection to it.

'Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green
When I am King, dilly dilly, you shall be queen'

Part of a traditional English nursery rhyme of which there are many variations.

  4. Wow stunning photos Simone! I do love sunflowers, I'm afraid I'm not having much success with them this year. I lost some to the wind and some to greenfly and now the slugs are having a go. Fingers crossed I get to see some bloom!
    The zinnias are beautiful. :)
    Have a lovey weekend.

  6. Like you I love Lavender it's one of my favourite flowers in the garden. My Calendulas have still to flower. The sunflower reminds me of warm, sun drenched holidays in France and Italy.

  10. Wonderful flower photos! I love lavender, too. I planted lots of it in my Cleveland garden and always cut armloads of it each year to dry. Here lavender isn't necessarily winter hardy so although we planted two plants so far, we'll have to wait to see if they'll survive. Even so, they're lovely while they're here.
