New Moon New Beginnings

There is a new moon on Tuesday.  A time of new beginnings.  I am feeling restless. At the moment my blog is bringing me little joy other than by reading the comments that my regular and not so regular readers leave for me.  It is hard work managing a blog as many of you regular bloggers know.  I don't know if I have the energy or time to keep on investing with it to be honest.

The voluntary work up at the vineyard is taking up much of my time and my restrictive diet (by choice) seems to be playing mind games with me just recently.  The diet has been successful as in I have lost the weight I wanted to lose.  Now comes the challenge of maintaining the weight loss and not putting it back on.

I look different even thought I didn't have much weight to lose.  I feel my personality has changed too.  I think it may be time to re-invent myself.

  1. Sometimes taking some time out from blogging helps - I know what you mean and I can't decide whether to pack it in or not. It is so time consuming and unlike real life where you would never attempt to keep in contact with so many people would you?! Maybe the new you will want to continue - do hope so!

  2. I know what you mean, Simone. I go through phases of thinking I'll stop blogging but then somehow keep going. I do hope that you will feel as if the re-invented you can carry on in blogland in some way or other. Congratulations on the weight loss:)

  3. I do know what you mean about blogging taking so much time.
However I hope you stay with us Simone!!
As for the new moon, I do hope we are able to see it and it's not obscured by rain clouds!!

  4. Simone, I've been pretty uninspired with my blog, also, lately. As Marigold Jam said above, sometimes a break can help, and I'm planning to take one soon. I personally love your blog and would be disappointed if you stopped it. I would hate to lose contact with you. Why not take a blog vacation, change up your blog design (as I'm planning to do) and change your focus? Hope you'll keep with it!! xx
    Hugs,

  5. I do hope you keep blogging but maybe you need not to think of it as a other job to do and just post when you want to. I know keeping the weight off is hard.

  6. Blogging is a big time commitment I agree with you there. I hope you do keep going, I enjoy my visits here. A rest away from the blogosphere may be good for a time if you feel the way you describe.

  7. I don't read half as many blogs as I use to and just don't seem to have the time, like you say they can be time comsuming and sometime I feel I am way behind doing a post.
I love reading your blog and would miss you Simone but maybe if you took a break for a while you might come back to it refreshed and with some new ideas?
I am loving your cards by the way!

  8. Sweet Simone,
First, happy wedding anniversary! How nice to have our special days so close together.
And congratulations on sticking to a difficult goal like weight loss and prescribed eating.
Yes, the new moon is a fine metaphor for the cycle of things. Having been busy with my honey here for the last couple of days, I haven't been reading my favorite blogs as regularly and see I've missed a couple of your most recent posts. Your butterfly work deserves to fly right out of your Etsy shop. Charming!
Regarding the focus of blogs, I write mine for two reasons: to remind myself of what I'm up to. I often forget the many and varied things I do. The second reason, is to keep Jerome aware of me and my days away from him.
Though I'm always happy when my blogger friends read my posts, I don't set out to engage others by my words and photos. It's delightful when you can catch a pleasant whiff or taste and let me know. I feel a kinship with you. And I would miss our interactions that this format allows. For now, do what you must for your health and happiness and know that this farmgirl blogger holds you in her good thoughts and wishes.

  9. Your post made me think of a quote by Joyce Carol Oates... "I never change, I simply become more myself."

I love that idea, that we are constantly changing into more of who we really are. Perhaps that's what's been happening to you.

Congrats on the weight loss and on your recent Etsy success!

I'm with you on the blogging thing. Maybe I burned myself out last month when I was trying to blog every day. I've decided that I won't blog unless I feel like it and that I need to try to enjoy these summer days as much as possible (and stay off the computer!). I was feeling so rushed all the time, that I never had enough time to do all that I wanted to do. And blogging less and limiting my computer time has helped with that. You will figure out what's right for you. And what's right NOW might not be the same thing that's right next month. That's one of the wonderful things about life, we get to constantly adjust and refine.

    Sending hugs your way!

  10. blogging is a huge commitment. anyone with a blog will understand how you feel. My blog is 6 years old,and there have been times when my blogging mojo fails me too. But somehow, we just carry on. Life has ups and downs, and our blogs echo that, we chronicle good times and we chronicle bad. Its not just public entertainment of sorts, our blogs are also our own diaries, and sometimes its good to read back at the low times, to see how we rode out the storms of life.
