Woolly

If I want to have a spacious and workable craft room, things really have to earn their keep.  Today I spent a great amount of time going through my wool/yarn stash.  The box above is all I am going to keep which contains all my crochet hooks and knitting needles and a selection of the more unusual yarns that can be used for dolls hair, tying up parcels and other small woolly projects.

The photo above is of a bag of unfinished projects including a knitted top that I started back in the 1980's!!!  I really hope that a charity shop can make use of them or even finish them off.

Yet more wool to donate.  I really can't wait to get rid of all this excess 'stuff'.  No wonder I am feeling woolly headed with all the materials I have accumulated over the years.  Right, I need to step away from the wool now and tackle the paper tower.

  1. I have a fair number of unfinished projects too, and if they went back to the 1980s I wouldn't be in the least surprised!

  2. Are those granny squares I see there? Depending on their size I use mine as gift wrapping or as embellishments. I wrote a post about it on my other blog sometime ago if you'd like to have a look:

  5. I can see a patchwork blanket - I am sure all your balls of wool and unfinished projects will find their way to a good home.

  6. Just be very careful you don't get rid of something you'll wish you hadn't at some point in the future. If you're sure though I think Oxfam welcome wool!

  7. Wow, looks like you're getting rid of some good stuff there. Just think how many winter scarfs you could knit and give away to family/friends, but I'm sure you've already thought about that, plus you need to rid the space for new things.

  8. Lots of nice looking things here, Simone! But you are right and the only way to really sort out a crafty space is to be a bit ruthless and very organised. I say this because I spent ages today looking for some beads to finish a project and am determined to have a big sort out and tidy up myself!
Wishing you a happy and organised October!

  9. I can totally relate. It's hard to be able to be creative when you're facing clutter. And it's hard to know what you have when it's hidden away. It's also hard to be ruthless when editing your supplies. To let go of ideas you've been holding onto. Cheers to you for tackling this project and for sharing the process with us. Looks like you're doing a great job!
