Word for 2014

Each year I have a word that I focus that year on.  This years word was evolve. 2012 was create and 2011 was nurture.  My word for 2014 is:
 PERSEVERE
To persist in or remain constant to a purpose, idea, or task in the face of obstacles or discouragement.

The following quotes are about persevering and the first one is most timely as it is by Nelson Mandela.

“It always seems impossible until it's done.”  Nelson Mandela.

“I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.” Abraham Lincoln.

“Many of life's failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up.”   Thomas A Edison.

“Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.” Winston Churchill.

“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”  J.R.R.Tolkien The Hobbit.

“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow.” Mary Anne Radmacher.

“By perseverance the snail reached the ark.” Charles H. Spugeon.

I like too the quotes you chose.
I find hard to persevere, I always blame the fact I'm a Gemini, LOL :)
Good luck Simone, I hope you keep going on all your goals!

Persevere is a great word for 2014!

And I think evolve suited you well this year.

Sending you best wishes for the new year. I'm excited to see what you'll be up to as you persevere throughout the year. :)
