Cross

This is a first prototype of a cross pendant I have been working on.  Although I am not a religious person as I am opposed to following enforced doctrines, I find that I am quite spiritual and more so as I get older.  The pendant is made from genuine freshwater rice pearls and copper wire.  Because the pearls are natural they will not be prone to scratching as would glass pearls. I had no real plan when I set out to make the pendant but as I look at it I see the tightly bound wire as a representation of being bound to a faith.

I have been feeling unsettled and frustrated these past few days.  Already 2 weeks into the new year and I feel I am lagging behind.  I have received my herbs to make my herbal pillows but lack the motivation to do anything with them.  I also have a lovely collection of gemstones with which to make jewellery but feel frozen with the expectation of failure if I try to make anything.  Hopefully this feeling will pass shortly and I will get my act together.

This cross is absolutely beautiful Simone. You've done an excellent job on it. Although I like the copper around it, have you thought about doing the same thing in gold with those pearls, and then selling it to shops? And Easter is on it's way, so you could get a bumper sale.

Maybe you're feeling a little unsettled after the festive season etc. Sometimes we hype ourselves up so much and then come back down with a bump because it's all ended and we're back to normal routines again. Just a thought.

One word for the cross - stunning!

I know where you are coming from on the feeling unsettled front. My brain wants to do one thing, but my fingers want to do something else! Are you sure you are not my double, the feelings are exact?

Beautiful! I think that this time of year is always a bit unsettling for us all. I keep thinking it must be spring and finding it's not!! Perhaps it's the time for reflection rather than doing and maybe the doing will come later?

That's lovely, Simone - I feel I can't be bothered with much at the moment just doing things on automatic pilot really. It has been nice to see the sun today and also the first snowdrops too:)

I feel the same about religion / enforced doctrine - but that cross is lovely! Many folks would treasure that. It is a funny, uninspiring time of year. Looking forward to lighter, brighter days! X

Hi Simone
Beautiful cross - you make some lovely things - have faith in yourself. My girls were delighted with your fairies. I will treasure mine always - thank you so much. Take care Viv x

Hi, Simone, I am right there with you with feeling some January blues. I think January is a hard month. At first it feels amazingly fresh and full of possibility and then we start to feel daunted by all of our plans. Or at least, that is how I started out the year (and it sounds like you did, too). I think the only way we can combat that is to just jump right in. I've been helped tremendously by writing in my journal. Keeping Joy lists helps, too. And then spending time being creative. If you can get over the fear of starting (a hard thing for me sometimes!) you'll surprise yourself with what you're capable of. Also, taking time to pamper yourself... baths, lighting candles, drinking fragrant tea (in fancy cups).

Sending you some good thoughts today. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've been creating with renewed motivation!
