Birthday, Blossom and Blue Sky

I have woken up to a glorious spring day on my Birthday!  It is frosty but crisp.  The sky is blue and the plum tree is covered with blossom.  Interestingly according to the Julian calender (which was later replaced by the Gregorian calender) March 24th is the 365th and last day of the year in many European implementations of the Julian calendar. (Source: Wikipedia).  That means that from tomorrow I start my year afresh.  New year, new me!  It can be the start of a new year for you too if yours hasn't started off great until now.

Later today I will make a cake to celebrate.  Nothing too fancy - a lemon drizzle or something like that.  I am always fascinated to know who I share my birth date with so I can look for comparisons between us.  I share the date with Alan Sugar (if only I had his entrepreneurial skills), Clyde of Bonnie and Clyde fame (American criminal), Steve McQueen (handsome actor), Mary Berry (food writer and broadcaster) Hurrah! and William Morris (English poet and designer).

Muesli and skimmed milk for breakfast with a sprinkle of fresh blueberries ( I really know how to live it up!) and a coffee and pain au chocolat for elevenses.  I may do a bit of pottering about today and return to paper crafting.  Such a lovely new day.  So much potential.  I hope you have a lovely day too.

That is interesting about the calendar, which makes last week Christmas!!!
Do you know what all of a sudden last week I actually started to feel relaxed about anything and everything, not sure what has been lifted, perhaps like you I should start again tomorrow!

  10. Happy Birthday Simone - you sound as if you are enjoying the day. You share your day with some great people - I love Mary Berry and Alan Sugar and especially William Morris. Perhaps they should move New Years day to your birthday officially as Springtime always feels more like the start of a New Year.xx

I have always felt that March is the month for new beginnings, January is too cold and dark to wnat to start anew.

  16. Simone, I feel so stupid. I have a calendar right here on my computer desk and I have your birthday recorded on the square that the last two Mondays share on it. Misreading it with my new full time (UGH) first pair of bifocals I missed your date instead of being on time. Poop. I apologize and send heaps of good wishes belatedly. Looks like Mother Nature gave you a lovely day.
