Flower heads wane
In a fading sun
A chill in the air
New season begun
Dew on the grass
A time to wind down
Less countryside walks
More time spent in town
September's tradition is
Fresh, crisp and cool
Autumn - the season
I love most of all

Lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely poem Simone, although of course according to the GRD calendar, autumn doesn't begin until October! ;)

If you have no objections, Simone, I'd like to record your poem in my journal. Your chosen text creates such an attractive shape when centered as it is.
ReplyDeleteAnd another marvelous photo…hydrangeas just get lovelier as they age. Hmm, that seems like a metaphor for life doesn't it?
Can you see how sensitive to beauty you are?
thank you and happy Monday.
Hi Sharon, of course you can record my poem in your journal! I didn't notice the shape of the poem until you mentioned it and now I see it resembles a vase or an urn of some sort to house the hydrangeas!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, Simone - I just love this!! Autumn is my favorite time too! But we have a bit more of a wait before it arrives here. Lovely verse, lovely photo. xxx
ReplyDeleteI too love autumn, beautiful poem, xxx
ReplyDeleteI love hydrangeas dried - they're such lovely subtle colours

You have such a way with words, I love that last verse. I think I shall write it in the blackboard at home to read every morning when I go down for breakfast.
