In the Pink

I don't feel in the pink at the moment.  In fact I am in a really foul black mood.  Tiredness, anxiety and mild depression and having been told to 'speed up' my work at my monthly appraisal, has brought out a side to me that I haven't experienced since being a teenager.  Thank God that I have my blog in which to express my feelings otherwise I don't know where I would turn.  Taking myself off for some retail therapy today I bought a small pot of scented roses.  I hope that the delicate hue and pleasing scent will help to soothe my soul.

The sight of sticky, fondant covered doughnuts delighted my senses.  I don't even like filled doughnuts and really shouldn't be eating such things with my problem teeth and gums but I bought them anyway.  Once again, I was drawn in by the pink colour.

Something for the bedside table - The Ashes of London.  Hopefully reading this before I slumber will take away my dreaming of work.  London burning is preferable to dreaming of buttering and filling 240 rolls and baguettes each night.

  3. Oh, Simone I hope things get easier soon and I hope too that you get your weekends free to take time out and enjoy those lovely roses. I hope you enjoy the book, I read it a few weeks ago and once I'd got into it really enjoyed it:)

  4. You do right to treat yourself - the roses are beautiful - I can almost smell them from here! The book looks an interesting read and I hope it does the trick to help you sleep.
If you use Bach Flower remedies (from Boots or Holland and Barrett) try Walnut for the change you are experiencing, White Chestnut for unwanted recurring thoughts and Gentian if you are feeling depressed - two drops of each in some water at night may just help to lift your mood.
Oh and keep blogging we are here to listen and hopefully give a bit of support to get you through this but remember you can always walk away if it gets too bad to cope but it is not easy starting a new job wherever you work these days they want value for their money and generally tend to heap the pressure on you.
sending you my best wishes as always Viv xx

  6. Roses, pink fondant and a new book would cheer me up for sure - so I hope it does the trick for you.

Quite a few years ago, I was working in a job that I absolutely loathed, I can remember standing in the kitchen alone in someone's house that I was cleaning and I couldn't stop crying. I tried hard for a long time to find parts of the job that I could appreciate... without much success. Maybe you could decide on something you DO want to do and make a definite clear plan to carry it out - while working this other job just temporarily? Knowing it is not forever and having something to look forward to might make all the difference.
I'm sending you a big hug ((())) xx

  7. It will take time to get back into the swing and routine of the working environment; and the pressure 'to perform faster' is very common these days. They all want their pound of flesh for the same pay - I've barely had a rise in pay for 5 years (civil servant) and the staff numbers have decreased and consequently the workload increased!! And guess what? We're also meant to remain positive ... LOL - keep going for now - as others have said, you don't have to stick it out if it's really getting you down
