Chickpea Flour

If the only flour you can buy at the moment is chickpea flour also known as gram flour, besan, garbanzo bean flour, ceci flour, chana, then buy it!  It was the only bag of flour left in my local supermarket.  Luckily I had already tried this flour before so didn't hesitate to buy it.

The advantages of this flour is that it is gluten and grain free made from finely ground chick peas.  It is low cost, high in protein and rich in vitamins and minerals.

I have a lovely recipe book on using chickpea flour.

If you want me to share recipes from the book I am happy to do so.

When I have run out of potatoes and ready made freezer chips I will have a go at making the above panisses (chickpea french fries).

I quite fancy these mini egg free quiches too!  As and when I make anything with the flour I will share it on here for you to see.  Give it a go if you are able to.

  2. I am ravenous, I forgot to eat my lunch. I'd eat the whole plate of the little quiches if I had a chance. What is the title of your recipe book, the recipes look delicious.

  3. I hope you will tell us about what you make with it. I know it must be a very healthy flour since chick peas are so high in protein. It looks like you have an excellent cookbook to use with it.

  5. Looks interesting flour and the recipes look tempting. We have had several different flours to bake with like Spelt, Rye, Einkhorn and Khorasan, Paul also makes oat bread and potato bread too. Never tried chickpea flour so I will be interested to see what you make with it:)

    1. Hi Rosie! I think if you see it - buy it! I haven't been able to buy any other flour from the shops so I am going to have to be creative with this one :)
