Another Baboushka

It really is quite addictive making these ornaments.  The best part is choosing the face and then the felt, thread and sequins accordingly.

This little lady looks a bit pensive.  She has a touch of the Frida Kahlo about her eyebrows and expression to me.

I like how the sequins catch the light.  I am getting to like sparkle more and more.............

Festive Decorations

I've taken on board the comments left for me as to what to make for the craft fair.  I've been watching lots of YouTube tutorials to hone my skills and was delighted to find a video which explains how to make these gorgeous hanging decorations.

They are wonderfully tactile and would be great to send through the post as they are fairly flat (apart from the embellished bit of course.)

This blue one has a fabric embellishment whereas the other two have metal connectors added for dimension.

Bear Making

Thank you for all the Birthday wishes in my last post.  It was a day of sunshine and showers!  I spent part of the day looking at my new book on making felt animals.  With so many animals to choose from; squirrels, rabbits, moles, mice - I opted to make a bear!

After transferring the pattern to felt I have carefully cut the pieces out.  I am opting to hand sew the bear but depending on how I progress may use the sewing machine if I make other animals.  I don't think this will be an easy make as there are things like cotter joints involved in the making!

I have never made a jointed toy before and feel quite excited in doing something 'grown up'.  I will be forever the child in getting pleasure in the newness of  experiencing something different.

Toadstool Fairy House

I made this toadstool fairy house from a kit by Corrine Lapierre.  I still have a little felt fairy to make but may make my own rather than the one on the pattern.  I enjoyed making the french knots eventually - after watching a tutorial on you tube.  I don't know what I did before you tube - there are some excellent tutorials on there.  I am not sure what to do with the toadstool now!  It could be used as a pincushion I suppose or I could use it as a prop in my photos?  Anyway, it was a good exercise in starting and completing a project learning new embroidery skills on the way.  Putting the ensemble together was quite technical too!

I have a few things lined up to do over the next few days.  Collage cards are calling to me and playing with jewellery designs and hopefully visiting a spiritual centre to see what courses are on offer.

Gizmo Keyring

 I finally got around to completing my Gizmo keyring.  Now I can move onto other things!

 I embellished the back with a few birds too.

The real Gizmo is curled up in the house having sweet dreams.  He has turned into a bit of a night owl going out at 4.30pm and coming home after 10.00pm!  Every night I worry that he won't come home and cannot rest until he shows up on the window ledge.  I can then breathe a sigh of relief and go to bed!

Felt Like Stitching

I put the gemstones aside today and decided to get out the felt and embroidery thread.  I hand cut a tiny 'Gizmo' and some grass and stitched them onto a 'blue sky'.  The whole thing only measures about 2 x 3 inches.  I shall probably turn it into a key ring.  I enjoy working with different mediums and prefer to sew in the winter when the fabric keeps my hands warm.  I have plans to hand cut a tiny owl and a moon gazy hare and turn them into keyrings too.  Watch this space!
