Keeping on Track

Since January 1st, I have walked over 33 miles (53 kilometers) so I am well on the way to achieving 10,000 miles this year if I keep this up!  I have tried to vary the walks I do each day so that walking around the local area doesn't get boring.  I walked past this sign and door for a tea room.  I have never seen this before.  I will have to pop in during one of my walks and see what they have on offer.

This month I seem to have hit the ground running.  I have so much to occupy my time but it is all a good kind of busy.  I am feeling energized and positive more than ever. I just hope that my good mood continues!

I received 'A Mindful Day' daily calendar for Christmas.  It contains meditations to inspire peace and balance.  Here is today's offering;

I can be free from my prior circumstances.
I can live in my deepest vision.
I can live the life of my dreams.

Sounds good to me.

A Long Walk

I went for a long walk today.  I didn't intend for it to be a long walk but I got stuck on a path and had to keep on going until I reached a sign post!  In all I was out walking for two and a half hours.  I was completely alone for most of the journey - not a soul to be seen and hardly any wildlife too.  When the occasional dog walker passed by I breathed a sigh of relief.  Being alone isn't a problem, it is the thought of being mugged or attacked that is.  Part of the walk took me deep into woodland and I'll admit that I muttered a few prayers under my breath as I trudged on not knowing what I was walking towards.  I was unsure what path to take once the path widened and branched off into different directions.  Luckily I got my bearings and chose the right path.

When I eventually arrived home I was relieved to be unscathed by my journey in the wilderness!

A Cold and Frosty Morning Walk

I have been on regular Sunday morning walks with my walking group since last September.  Chatting and walking we cover ground in no time at all totting up an excess of the daily recommended 10,000 steps.  There are six of us in the group, each from different backgrounds and stages in our lives.  Our commonality is our support of each other, humour and love of the Sunday walk.  We never have a session go by where we haven't had a hearty laugh!

We talk about so many diverse things including the health of our family members, how to make kefir at home, the benefits of eating golden linseed, dating apps, dating disasters!, growing vegetables, childhood memories, keeping active etc.,  It feels good to be with a group of like-minded women even if it is only for a couple of hours on a Sunday before we all go back to our 'normal' lives and routines.

One of the reasons I like the group is that it is small.  I feel like I have a voice and I am heard.  Once I have had my Sunday walk I feel ready to face the rest of the day and the upcoming week.  It is great therapy.

Misty Morning Walk

This was the sight that greeted me on my regular weekly walk yesterday.  It was eerily beautiful by the lake and barely a soul to be seen.

Sunday Walk

This morning I went with the walking group to Trent Country Park for a change of scenery.

The weather was perfect with a slight autumnal chill in the air.

The sky was so blue we could have been fooled into thinking it was summer.

 Golden fields

Golden trees.

A perfect Sunday morning walk

Fruit Bowl Ponderings

I have already chopped and changed a few plans that I have had this year.  This morning I had fresh mango for breakfast and decided there and then that I would have a bowl of fresh fruit for breakfast every morning.

This year got off to a rocky start and yesterday I was disappointed to find out that I was unsuccessful in my application to be on a TV show.  I had no desire to be on TV but the premise of the show was to have your house remodelled (at your own cost) by top architects and designers and I wanted to have access to their expertise and experience - oh well back to the drawing board for me and my husband.

Whilst pondering over my bowl of fruit,  I made the decision to stop buying from my 'local' supermarket chain and walk into town to a more affordable supermarket twice a week.   That way I will be saving £'s and losing pounds (if I walk briskly enough)!

So, my things to do this year are listed below.  I will move them to my sidebar at a later date so that I can stay on track.

  • Only eat fruit for breakfast every day
  • Walk to town to food shop twice a week
  • Renew passport
  • Have dental check up
  • Have eye check up
  • Continue to practise my art and crafts to perfection
  • Make a high end range of jewellery
  • Make lots of money (one can dream)

I hope that you are embracing the new year with gusto!  I am advancing nicely into 2016 and have set myself goals to work towards.

A Sunday Walkabout

It was too nice to be stuck indoors today so I went for a brisk walk around the local neighbourhood.  It was very quiet.  There really wasn't anything much to interest me apart from a squirrel making a bird like noise in a tree.  Several dog walkers passed me by.  Just before I started to make my way back home something caught my eye - the sunlight reflecting back from the church window was so beautiful and really lifted my spirits.

When I looked down onto the church grounds I noticed a carpet of purple crocuses.  So pretty.

The blue sky topped off a pleasant walk in the February sunshine before setting off back home to finish cooking the dinner.
