Tuesday Garden Rake No. 3

It has been an extremely productive week here in the garden. Grass has been cut, hen house has been assembled, weeds have been pulled and much tidying up has been achieved. There is still much to be done.

An abundance of seeds have been sown and are now germinating all over the place!

The lily of the valley is spreading and tiny flower heads are beginning to appear.

Close up of a leaf on my climbing Compassion rose.

Reds and yellows against a blue sky.

The Tayberry is coming into leaf.

Nettles have been submerged into rainwater to make a plant food. Find out how to do it here and here.

Pesky snails who eat my crops but don't they have beautiful shell markings?

Glossy berries shining out below the leaves.

Golden yellow flowers.

Lemon yellow flowers.

Pieris , a year round interesting plant with its colourful foliage and clusters of milky white flowers.
One of the blueberries 'Brigitta' coming into flower.

I took the above pictures over several days at different times of day. The potted pear tree in the first photo is now covered in white flowers. I was expecting the pear blossom to smell beautiful but it smells rotten!!! Has anyone else noticed this with pear blossom or have I just got a dodgy tree?!!!!

  1. Hi Simone! I'll check mine and I'll let you know!
I see English snails are great gourmets..luckily mine are enjoying only the lilies!
Thank you for popping by my new home ;-)

  4. What a lovely garden you have, Simone. We have a resident thrush who is eating some of the snails! Yesterday's granary rolls look good, too:)

  5. Thats a shame about your pear blossom.

Sorry to say that snail shells will never be pretty to me, when they contain such evil! LOL!

  7. What a beautiful garden you have. I planted Lettuces on Sunday, now to keep the pesky Slugs and Snails at and I am determined they will not be winning this year!

  10. What a lovely garden - I'm very jealous!
I'm sorry, I don't find anything to admire about snails. They've eaten far too many plants in my poor garden!

  11. Lovely garden. Your plants are a bit ahead of ours - our yellow pom pom bush (I don't know its real name!) has still just buds, no flowers yet.

  17. What a beautiful garden you have Simone! I’m thinking about getting some chickens, do you have yours yet? I would love to know how you get on.

  18. Your garden is lovely Simone, I am so pleased to be seeing more of it. I am very impressed with your seedlings, I still haven't started mine, and fear I am on the edge of being too late? I have a pear in a container, it hasn't ever done well. I must remember to sniff it tomorrow! Talking of smells, I wouldn't like to be near your nettle concoction when you lift the lid! Great for the plants though. My lily of the valley is at the same stage as yours. I love it as it was one of my Mum's favourite flowers, and it reminds me of her every day. x
