Pause

I feel the need to pause; hibernate even. My mind is racing and there is so much I want/need to do. I want to paint, draw, embroider, design, cook, write etc etc. Instead I do nothing. Today I had a good stretch of hours in front of me but just felt too tired to attempt anything. I hate it when I feel useless like this.

The doll in the photo above was purchased a few years ago. She is an Earth doll and wears the tigers eye precious stone. The element earth is said to contain the area 'knowledge' concerning deep inner realisations and a good intuition. Maybe my 'intuition' is telling me to pause for now and just reconnect with my surroundings before rushing into new projects.

  1. Evening Simone

I know what you mean, though I'm at the other end of the scale right now!
I quite often feel like I've a type of bi-polar creativity, swinging from all or nothing.

I think blogging can still be a creative outlet and certainly cookery, both of which you do!!

How about a simple crochet project to keep your fingers busy, if not your mind?

  3. Follow your intuition and as my mum used to say when I felt tired and my mind was racing and needed time to rest and reflect. 'When you are ready it will all be there waiting for you and you will feel so much better'. x

  4. I've been in this place many times. I don't think you should choose one or the other of your creative endeavours, they are all worthy. Instead, find which one demands your attention first and then focus on that.

I can recommend a great book called the Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. It unblocks all aspects of our lives, not just our creativity and I think you would find it very helpful.x

  5. I know exactly what you mean too. There are days where I want to do lots of things like now, and just cannot muster up the enthusiasm and like you I hate it when it happens.
Perhaps we should link virtual hands and reconnect to our surrounding together?

  6. I think sometimes we need to press the pause button and just stop and do nothing even for a short while. Some days there are so many things to do I just don't know where to start and what to do first. Other days I can do three jobs at once and complete them all - no problem! Just depends on how I'm feeling - on pause days just take a gentle walk or sit and sip coffee and read a good book - then you can start again:)

  7. I know exactly what you mean!
Sometimes there is so much facing me that I get nothing done at all.
I think you should put your feet up and have a day or two of simply chilling!

    ;-) x

  8. I get days like this too. The worse thing you can do Simone is to hibernate. I recommend you go for a brisk walk to clear your head. There's always tomorrow. x

  9. Thank you for your lovely words and well done on finding the book :D

I have another for you, The Invitation by Oriah Mountain Dreamer. It's quite an intense little book, but it's what's helping me to live through the fear and not try to avoid it. That's what I've done in the past and have made the easy option an art form, just to avoid dealing with difficulties!

Hugs to you and I'm glad you left a comment on my blog :D

  10. I think sometimes we just get overloaded with too much excitement of projects to come and instead of getting on with them it sort of turns you off somehow. Can you maybe channel your brain into one idea for a while and pop the rest on paper so they are out of you brain whilst you do that one thing? might be worth a try. x

  13. I understand exactly what you mean about feeling like you want to do so much, but getting nothing accomplished. I always feel this way toward the end of summer and before the cold weather sets in. Is it a seasonal slump? Like you, I'm beginning to feel a spark of creativity stirring... thank goodness! I'll be glad when the energizing cold weather hits. Yay for snow! :-)

  14. I could do with learning a lesson from you and just "being" for a while. The doll is just gorgeous!
