A Lesson Learnt

Last week on a whim, I decided to have my hair cut. No big deal? I have been growing my hair for about 3 years and only had a couple of trims in all that time. I wish I could turn back the clock. Last week I could tie my hair back in a ten inch pony tail. Today it is a two inch pony tail. I also have a very annoying wispy fringe. I now remember why I haven't had a fringe for years. It irritates like hell and I have to keep pushing it off my forehead because it itches so much. My 'thick' hair is baby fine in my opinion, I just have a lot of it. The hairdresser said it needed a layer so it wouldn't hang in a 'block'. The 'bob' haircut I have had isn't a bob at all. It is a lopsided layered mess. I could scream, shout and holler like a child having a tantrum but that won't bring my hair back. I just have to bide my time and grow out the fringe and the layers. The reason I have blogged about this is so that next time I decide to have my hair cut on a whim I will read this post first!

Edited: The photo above is a before shot. I can't even bear to look in the mirror to take a photo of how it is now. Also, my hair looks blonde with the sunlight catching it but it is in fact brown!

  2. Simone, I didn't imagine you with long blonde hair!
Sorry but I'm a huge fun of bob haircut and I wish I could have a fringe, but my hairdresser said that my lumpy nose would appear even bigger..how kind of her :(
It's always a big shock when you have your hair cut, just wait a few days and you will love it..and think at the time you will save for having your hair dry!

  3. So sorry to hear about your hair trials. I know completely where you are coming from. I'm the master of growing my hair and then deciding, all of a sudden, to get it chopped off.......and then regretting it. You can console yoursef with the thought that at least you didn't get it cropped, that's what I usually do and then it takes years to grow back. Hang in there and you'll get there in the end. Juliex

  4. Oh dear Simone, I'm sorry your not happy with your 'new' hair. The one sure thing about hair though is that it grows again and just focus on the fact that this is only temporary. You may find as it settles in you will find yourself liking it a bit more. I think we've all been there at some point but I know that's no help!

  5. It's always a bit of a shock when you change hairsyle dramatically. You may get to like it but take comfort in the fact that it is always growing and will get back to its original length.

  6. I know how you fel although I have never managed to get my hair to grow long enough for a 10 inch pony tail! It will grow back and you will also get used to it as it is no doubt - it must be a shock to the system to have it so different. I remind myself of all those lovely ladies undergoing chemotherapy who have no hair and then it doesn;t feel so bad!!

  7. Isn't it the worst feeling? I expect we've all done it at some point and been full of regret after. It will feel much better in a week or so and will grow back but I know that doesn't help you now - hope you feel better about it soon:)

  8. Oh I know this one... I've had long hair most of my life but in my final year of uni in an effort to make it easier to wash my hair with a dodgy shower and also in an effort to make myself feel better after all the health troubles, I had my hair lopped off so short it resembled a mullet. It was supposed to be "stylable" but my hair doesn't do anything other than what it wants to do (I want ringlets for my wedding but they wouldn't stay in!) I, like you, have lots of very fine hair (although I can't get away without a fringe as I have a long face). I'm due to have my hair cut next week and maybe your post has just caught me in time before I do something too drastic myself...

Wishing you lots of speedy hair growing over the next few weeks xx

  10. I always have chopper's regret when I cut mine too. But the good news is, it'll grow back. And it's winter, so you can wear cute hats.

  11. Oh Simone, totally hearing you on this - Ive done this countless times, and usually its a rubbishy hairdresser that has made me tantrum and cry buckets over lost hair and (to add insult to injury) a new style that doesn't work.
This isn't going to make your hair come back, but in time it will take a shape you can live with. Sending hugs, Julia x x x

  12. You know how you imagine everyone to look, well I imagined you with short hair. Until your new style grows a little, would it be possible to get another hairdresser to tidy it up a bit, to make you feel happier in the meantime? x

  13. It's fun to get a glimpse of what you look like! I know others have said this, but it will grow back! That's something, anyway.
