Words of Solace

I noticed that one of my blogging friends hadn't blogged for a while which was unusual for her. I contacted her to find out if she was well. She told me that several weeks ago her big brother, whom she idolised, was killed in a tragic accident whilst out cycling.

My heart aches for her and her family. I don't really know what to say. I was hoping that some of you could leave a few words of solace to her and her family here on my blog. I know she reads this blog and I would appreciate your kind thoughts at this most difficult time of the year.

  1. There isn't anything that any of us might say which would make a difference to your blogging friend except that it might just help to know we are thinking of her in her time of need and certainly my thoughts and prayers are with her. Grief is horrible but it will ease and it is true that Time is a great Healer and the day will come when she can think of her brother without such dreadful sadness. God bless.

  4. i send my love and condolances to your friend and her family.
i lost a loved one on this day (my birthday) last year. my mother lost both her brothers and her lovely brother-in-law (my dear uncles, one of whom died 20 years ago today) all at young ages.
marigold jam has put it all so well and i agree that time (though often slow and steady in this case) is indeed a great healer. the rawness will cease and although we will continue to miss and sometimes ache for those we have lost, we do find their spirit lives on in our hearts and in all the lovely sweet memories they have given us. eventually we hurt less and smile (perhaps tearfully at first) more. i wish i could offer more comfort at this sad time.. i will light a candle and send warm wishes xxx

  5. How terrible for your friend. No words I can say will ease the pain or the anger and hurt they must be feeling. Write down your feelings privately or in a blog it might help. To let it out. xxx

  8. Oh Simone this is just awful news and I fear I may know who you're refering to as I have noticed someone missing from the blogging world.
My heart goes out to her and I know nothing I can say will heal her pain but just to let her know I'm thinking about her.

  9. What awful news indeed, and my heart goes out to your blogging friend and her family. Thank you, Simone, for asking your readers to do this, as although no words can heal the grief, I am sure knowing that there is an outpouring of love will help in some way!

  10. Simone, what a good friend you are to check on your friend and then ask for help. What a terribly shame for her and her family. I think the other comments put things so well. Time, in the end, does help. It doesn't however stop it from being a dreadful loss or lessen the grief. My thoughts will be with her. Juliex
