Wishing You a Positive New Year

"An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves." Bill Vaughn

A pessimist by nature, I am going to make a big effort to turn my negative thoughts into positive ones this coming year. No matter what life throws at me I am going to turn the tables and make sure that I view things with a much more positive attitude.

Most of my pessimism is borne out of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of the known. I am going to face up to my fears and fight back!!!

I wish all of you a year full of positive things, and if they are not positive then lets make them so.

Inside, Outside

I would rather be inside than outside at the moment. The snow finally came.

Yesterday the sky hung low with snow and then snowed for about 3 hours.

It then settled and the sky looked so dark and dirty compared to the pure white freshly fallen snow.

The snow lay like a thick insulation over the garden keeping the bulbs snug underneath.

It didn't snow today and tonight as the sun began to set the sky alternated between pink and blue.

The garden looked quite magical as dusk fell.

I went back into the sanctuary of my home and marvelled at the scenic view from my window, safe in the knowledge that I was protected from the elements outside and fortunate to have a place to keep warm inside the house.

I hope you all stay safe and warm this Christmas. x

A Christmassy Feeling

Now that the decorations are up it is beginning to feel much more Christmassy around here. My woodwose man carving has pride of place on the mantelpiece - he almost looks like Father Christmas himself!

The living room has a cosy glow - just as dusk begins to fall.

My favourite gingerbread man ornament makes me smile!

This makes me smile too! Father Christmas rehearsing for the big day. With wheels and a microphone he really does move with the times!!!

Christmas Tagged!

I was inspired by Petit Filoux's tags that she had made by recycling a gift catalogue. I thought I would have a go at making some myself as I wasn't very impressed by the tags for sale in the shops.

These are tags in the making. The images are taken from various Christmas issues of magazines and gift catalogues too.

I love the snowy scenes but I think many of you would have had quite enough of those for now!

I used a luggage label as a template to draw around interesting portions of the pictures, and cut them out. I mounted the images onto some double sided white shirt packaging sprayed with adhesive.

A hole punch and string turns them into tags! They look really professional and much more original than anything you would find in the shops. Why not give it a go?

Words of Solace

I noticed that one of my blogging friends hadn't blogged for a while which was unusual for her. I contacted her to find out if she was well. She told me that several weeks ago her big brother, whom she idolised, was killed in a tragic accident whilst out cycling.

My heart aches for her and her family. I don't really know what to say. I was hoping that some of you could leave a few words of solace to her and her family here on my blog. I know she reads this blog and I would appreciate your kind thoughts at this most difficult time of the year.

Christmas Crafting

It feels like a card making factory here! 24 cards are made but there are sooooooo many more to do. It is a good job I enjoy making them isn't it?

The 1st of December already! Where did the year go?
