Delight in the Unexpected

The self seeded poppy in my garden revealed itself!  What a surprise!

'She' looks almost out of place in my 'wild' patch and ever so demure and delicate next to the huge thistle that has planted itself nearby.  He is much too unattractive to grace the pages of my blog!

There are many more buds about to burst forthwith!

A sheer delight to find on this overcast evening..............

talking of which..........yesterdays overcast evening.  My unique day yesterday ended with a rainbow.  Truly unique as I haven't seen one of those in years, especially not at my doorstep.

  1. I truly love poppies, I think it's because they are so delicate and yet so strong. To tell the truth I thought is was a Peony when I saw the first picture.
Gorgeous rainbow, I can't remember the last time I saw one either.

  4. What a stunning poppy - and a wonderful surprise for you to find there! Lovely to see all the buds too - so there will be lots more for you to enjoy. I still find the sight of a rainbow magical - they are quite rare so to see one always feels special. I like your 'three unique things ' idea. Hope you have a happy nearly weekend.

  8. It's looks so delicate, but it must be strong to have self seeded. So pretty.

  11. Poppies are one of my most favourite summer flowers, and I especially like the ones that look like this, they remind me of ballgowns with layer upon layer of silky petals...beautiful, and that is a cracking photo of the rainbow - aren't they beautiful?

Have a lovely weekend Simone, much love

  13. Your poppy is gorgeous. It looks like a peony. But maybe I have peonies on my mind because ours are all blooming right now.

Your brownies look delicious. My mom made some this week with nuts.

And I did gave some unique things in my day. An encounter with a sweet toad and the discovery of four little bluebird eggs in the bluebird house!

Hope today is filled with uniqueness.
