Keep in the Sunlight

You may recognize these words from the end of the quote in my last post.  I am striving to 'keep in the sunlight' at the moment and trying not to worry about what may or may not happen in the future.  I went for a routine eye test last week.  I came away with a letter for my GP as the optician has noticed something in the back of my eye that needs further examination.  The best thing for me to do in this kind of situation is to keep busy, so I have been keeping busy.  I  have made this tactile keyring.  You wouldn't lose this in your bag now would you?!!!  It is stitched onto a light pink Aida fabric, filled with a polyester filling, and a touch of home grown lavender in the middle.

It is nice and squidgy and backed with a vibrant paisley print.  It has all been sewn entirely by hand and may look a little rustic around the back ( a bit like me!)

I would like to offer it as a giveaway, so if you would like to be entered into the draw then please leave a comment on the end of this post.  Everybody is welcome to enter no matter where they are in the World.

I will pick a winner in about a week's time.

  1. It would be easy to say - don't worry, you'll be fine, the fact that the optician noticed it is good. But that won't stop you from worrying so do what you know is best - keep busy and stay in the sunlight.

You've made that perfectly, it looks such a pretty thing. Did it take long to work out the wording?

  5. Of course it would be easy for me to say don't worry but of course you will. They can tell all sort of things from eye tests including if you have high blood pressure. I'll be thinking of you and hoping all will be well.xx

  11. I hope you have good news very soon, and in the meantime I hope you can put the worry at the very back of your mind...I thought your little stitched words very touching, and the fact that you then offered them as a giveaway even more so.
    Take care, Simone.

  12. Try not to worry too much - I know it is hard, eyes are such precious things and I'm always squeamish about anything to do with my eyes (I've worn glasses since the age of 7). The same thing happened to me a few years ago - I won't go into detail here but it wasn't anything too serious and soon rectified. I do hope all will be well, Simone - do keep positive and do take care - hope you get an appointment soon. Your words are lovely:)

  13. What a wonderful way of keeping busy! I know I would have gone mad during my pregnancy if not for tons of books early on and my crochet these past few months.

It is so hard not to worry about things when you're told that something is amiss but you have to wait to find out more. We're going through that very same thing right now and it really is a case of trying not to overthink it as best we can. So I do feel for you in your wait to see the GP.

I hope everything turns out ok. I worked a brief stint for an optician just after graduating and they told me how often people come in for a routine eye test and something is seen by the optician. It is often this early detection of things that the customer had no idea of (thanks to little or no symptoms) that makes it that much easier to deal with whatever the problem may be. So hopefully, whatever it is that the optician saw, things will work out well because of the very fact it was picked up on by the optician!

    Thinking of you xx

  15. Simone, I understand your concern as I have an eye condition that was picked up by the optician. I am sure it doesn't feel like it but it is good that the optician is being cautious and sending you to be checked out, it is probably nothing but if there is something that needs treatment then the sooner the better.
I have had a lot of tests on my eyes at the hopital, none of which were at all painful so don't worry about that side of it.
Your keyring is lovely and what a great way to remember those wise words. Fingers crossed for you. x

  19. You're doing the right thing to keep busy, and it's such a simple but pretty little thing you've created. Let the lavender keep you calm and be thankful the optician noticed something before you did. I hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about.
