Bloggers Beads Reminder

Thank you so much to everyone who has sent me beads so far.  I have even received a bead all the way from Australia!  On receipt of the beads I will send you an email to let you know that I have received it and put your name under my 'Bead Donors' in the side bar.

I will keep this open for another couple of weeks and then I will draw a name from all the people that have sent me a bead and send the winner a little something I have made.  I do hope that I receive enough beads to make my 'Bloggers Beads Necklace'!

Apart from my goal of making 'the' necklace with the help of my blogging friends I have another goal that I wish to achieve this year.  I want to improve my level of fitness.  I decided that I will do this by walking more.

After reading about the merits of using a pedometer (counts the number of steps walked each day) I decided to buy one.  I read that the average person does between 3,000-4,000 steps each day.  Health professionals advise to walk 10,000 steps each day to maintain fitness and 12,000 steps to lose weight.

I walked to the vineyard and back today and this evening my pedometer reads 15,687 steps.  No wonder I am tired!

  1. dear Simone i have some beads ready to send you, i am just waiting for someone to have the time to post them for me (my usual helpers all seem to be very busy) as i am unable to do it myself, being housebound at the moment. i do hope i can get them to you soon.

    warmest thoughts x

p.s could you please email me your address to

  2. The beads look very pretty grouped together like that. I'm sure that you will have enough to make a decent necklace.

I used to love walking but can't manage it any more, I wish I could. What type of pedometer did you buy?

  3. That's one of my goals this year too ~ to walk more! I haven't got off to a very good start though!!
I also found my pedometer in a drawer when spring cleaning, maybe should get it going too!

P.S. Come on everyone send Simone your beads, I want to see the finished necklace!!

  4. Glad you received the beads I sent you, Simone. I have a pedometer somewhere but I keep forgetting to use it when I go out on a walk. I think I remember that if I walk into town and back it is about 6,000+ steps - not quite enough to keep fit as I don't do the walk every day:)

  5. So excited about your beaded necklace, Simone. I have a plan for what to send you, but I've just got to refine it before I pack it up and send it out.

Walking is such a great way to stay healthy. And it's very enjoyable, too. Although sometimes I can convince myself that it's too cold, snowy, rainy, etc.

  6. I have just had a joyful time catching up with your blog. Your previous post, Chasing Rainbows, moved me enormously. I felt very much on the same wavelength as you whilst reading your words. Rainbow chasing is a beautiful expression. I think one thing I find very hard to digest is time wasting; especially when someone else wastes it for me.

I have learned to take 10 minute naps early afternoon whenever I can. They help take the edge off and keep me more SERENE. (Stephanie coughs and splutters when writing "serene".)

    See you soon.

  7. Impressive number of steps! You'll have no trouble achieving your goal at this rate!

    Happy New Year Simone!
    Gill xx

  8. Simone,
I mailed your bead Sat. Jan. 14. I imagine it should be arriving some time this week. Looking forward to seeing all of them...

  9. I went to the PO to post your bead today - closed for autiding! Weill try again tomorrow!
