Chasing Rainbows

I seem to have spent most of my life chasing rainbows.  Today it was as though my mind and body had enough.  Physically and mentally exhausted, always having to be doing something and planning the next move.  Keeping one step ahead.

Yesterday I completed chores that I normally reserve for a Monday so that I could have the day free.  I had planned to get out my watercolour paints again.  I had planned to spend a relaxing few hours with paints, paper and a bit of imagination.

My eyes were so sore and watery I couldn't focus, my mind was jumping all over the place.  I got out a big cover and lay down and fell asleep.  I am so angry at myself for giving in to sleep on such a beautiful day when the sun is shining.

As I woke from sleep and started thinking about my life of chasing rainbows, setting myself up with unattainable goals and dreams I realised I didn't have to go down that route any more.  There on my blanket a rainbow had come and found me.

  1. I know just how you feel. Last week I'd reserved a day for special me-time. I had a list of things I wanted to do and I ended up wasting the day. Today is another me-time day and I'm feeling the minutes slip past.

So glad that your rainbow found you in the end.

  2. I know exactly where you are coming from! I never plan anything anymore which includes the me-time it just happens now, I take each day as it comes and if I want to paint or draw or cook I do it, but if I want to just sit and stare or sleep I do that too.

  3. I know exactly what you mean Simone.
I'm always making plans for myself and setting myself goals only to disappoint myself. Today is one of those days because I just can't be bothered doing anything!
Hope one of those rainbows find me!

  4. I think you need to be good to yourself, take time to rest and give yourself time to do things too. I hope your rainbow finds you again soon.

  6. If you fall asleep, it means your body needs to rest. That's time well spent. There will be other nice days!
    Take care!

  7. You knew what you had to do - grab that blanket and snooze. How special to wake up to a rainbow and not ignore it's magic.

  10. How lovely that the rainbow came and found you! Quite magical! It's impossible to do creative work when you are feeling very tired...so nap first, creativity when you are rested! Hope you have a happy week, Simone.
