Badge Fest

I just knew that my son's badge making machine would come in handy some day.  As well as making the recycled fabric brooches for the upcoming fund raising event at the vineyard, I wanted to have something else to sell too.  As I was drifting off to sleep last night I remembered that my son had given me his badge making machine some years back.

I woke up bright and early and started to look into my paper stash for some suitable papers for badge making. I didn't have to look far before I found what I was looking for. As the event is taking place on a farm I made sure that some farm animals featured among the designs.  I have also made some 'grown up' designs using gingham and spotty papers!

I have mounted three badges to a recycled card base that has been covered in a co-ordinating paper.  I  thought it would be easier to sell the badges in sets of three rather than try to sell them all individually.  I am thinking of printing off some text to add to the background card or maybe put some stickers on.  I need them to be cost effective as my husband doesn't think anyone will buy them anyway!!!    So, what do you think I can do to spruce them up a bit?  Any ideas what I can call them apart from trio of badges?  Your suggestions are most welcome.

  1. Oh Simone, how I have missed your posts :) I just haven't had much time to log on and do much more than the basics while Oscar was so young.

These badges are so lovely xx

  3. Firstly I think your husband is wrong, I definitely think people will want to buy them! They're so lovely, that strawberry one is gorgeous. If Ms Kidston can sell her badges you'll sell your's for sure. Put 'Pootling with Paper' on them!!
Really Simone, they look great. :)

  4. I think they're lovely too. You've used beautiful paper.
I also have a badge making machine (really a toy, but I bought it for me!). I made badges to sell at a 'cello event so made ones with bass clefs etc on them, they sold well for £2 each badge and weren't as nicely mounted as yours, in fact they weren't mounted at all! I hope you do well with yours.

  6. Of course they'll sell, individually too but please charge a proper price, don't sell your thing cheaply.

    They look lovely, very professional.

  11. These are lovely! You're making me wish I had a badge machine, too!! :)

I especially like the ones in the second photo. With the strawberries and polkadots and gingham! Beautiful!

Mounting them in groups was a great idea!

  12. These are absolutely charming, Simone. I love, love, love them. Yes, 3 on a card is an inspiration. I hope you put a little sticker on the back with your blog or contact info.
There must be bits of the papers you used left after cutting the rounds... I'd say make use of those in some way on the background. I wish I could loan you my paper punches!
Sounds like a great event. Best wishes.

  14. Ooh, I love them! I can't believe your husband doesn't think anyone will buy them - I'd snatch them up! You should consider making more to put in your Etsy store. x Katherine
