Fairies in the Garden

Not quite fairies in the garden but Fairy Toadflax.  Despite the unrelentless rain my summer 'meadow' is taking shape.  Tiny splashes of colour pop up through the grasses and no matter how the rain beats them down they spring back up and stand tall.

I am looking forward to seeing the other flowers in the patch come to fruition.  The mix contains Shirley Poppy, Californian Poppy, Cornflower, Fairy Toadflax, Red Flax, Bishop's Flower, Tickseed, Corn Marigold, Black-eyed Susan, Red Orache, and Larkspur.

I am glad that I didn't bother with hanging baskets this year and think that sowing meadows is the way to go!

  1. Lovely - some plants seem to be enjoying this summer's weather even if we are not!

  2. That is a pretty sight Simone. I hope that the other flowers don't get drowned, the rain really is unrelenting and I need some sun now.

  3. How pretty your flower meadow will be when all the flowers are in bloom. I hope we have some warmer and dryer weather soon - I'm quite fed up with the rain now Have a lovely weekend:)

  4. I have a little corner in my garden with English seeds, sort of "meadow" and it grew healthy only after getting some rain..how weird!
Have a lovely weekend, hopefully a sunny one :)

  5. What a pretty flower. I didn't bother with hanging baskets either. We have a very neglected garden and I do feel guilty about it sometimes, but all this rain has meant I don't get to see it much and so my guilt levels are guilt low at the mo!
