Thirty Days

I am going to try and follow the advice given by Matt Cutts and try something new for thirty days. As he says 'the next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days.'

I think this will be a great way of making each month more memorable and I won't feel as though the months have flown by without achieving anything which is just how I have been feeling lately.  I am excited about all the new things I could learn such as finding out all I possibly can about British butterflies or learn ten new words a day (that would be 300 a month!), research a particular historical figure, research a particular county or country etc.  The possibilities are endless!

What I need to do now is come up with a list of new things that I want to learn or know more about.  I will be starting this on the 1st November and will continue every month (30 days) onwards. Please feel free to join in.  By the end of 12 months I will have a folder full of information that I was previously unaware of and a log of what I have achieved over the course of one year.

  1. Good luck Simone, what a great idea! You're going to be a mine of information by the end of it, the butterfly idea sounds lovely. :)

  2. This sounds like a good idea, but not if you study British moths as there are over 2,000 of them.

The thing that is holding my interest at the moment is embroidery styles, many and varied and beautiful to look at.

  6. It is a good idea, especially if you combine it with putting things in your diary, as per your last post. Getting out and about, if you can, and joining up with people who share the same interest will bring the subject alive. Internet research is great, but may not hold your attention for long on it's own.

  10. Working in a Solicitors I now know quite a few Latin words although never studied it at school and I was quite excited one day when I was asked to issue a Writ of Fi Fa as I had always liked the sound of the word. (In English it means to instruct an enforcement officer to attend a debtors premises when that said debtor is a public body - like sending in the Bailiffs to a private individuals house) However they settled so I never got the opportunity! You will find that you will know more Latin than you think as a lot of English words come from Latin. Enjoy your new task. X
