Mood Lifters

When the sky is grey and the clouds descend, the pyracantha berries give a welcome burst of colour.  The more I focus on the vibrant orange I almost feel as though I am soaking up its colour and vitality.  The colour really lifted my mood and helped me feel energised once again.

This has made me focus on what other things lift my mood as the nights are ready to draw in...

  • Scented candles and tart burners with fresh uplifting or spicy scents (only good quality ones with true to life fragrance though!).

  • The softest of blankets (need to buy one).

  • Plenty of crafting projects awaiting.

  • A full fridge and snack drawer (need to add to this).

  • Listening to the rain lash down on the window panes as we are all safe indoors.

  • Walking in the wind, letting my hair flow in the breeze and watching the leaves chase each other in circles.

  • I would also like to share a coffee and cake with a friend but there is no-one so I will have to imagine that.

I would be interested to know what things lift your mood at this time of year.

Nothing lifts my mood as much as a good walk - I don't care what the weather is like as long as I can come back and get warm and dry if it is wet. The feel of the wind , the clouds scudding across the sky or even the rain makes me forget any worries. Next as you so rightly say - a coffee or tea with a friend to chat to. (It occurs to me that you might be able to have a coffee to hand whilst phoning a friend if you know nobody nearby to share with?)

I can do coffee and an email anytime you wish. I would love to share a crafternoon with you if only we lived closer. x

I think I agree with all of your ideas- But to add a couple of my own- it would have to be- baking a cake and then tasting the first slice with a cup of tea, snuggling in front of the tv with a bowl of popcorn and a chic flick movie and finally putting on some mad cap music 9that you possibly can't admit you listen too!) and dancing around the living room knowing that no one can see you:)

Lovely mood lifters, Simone - I'd add a warm scented bath and sitting quietly with a good book to read. I'd love to meet you for coffee and cake and have a good chat:)

I agree with all your suggestions, the wind is getting stronger out there today and the showers heavier, the autumn colour is being blown away but we are nice and cosy inside. X

I love all these mood lifters too, Simone! The berries are gorgeous, one of my favourite autumn things.
Hope you enjoy lots of nice mood lifting things in the coming week :)

It's hard to find something uplifting right now... I do love pyracanthus and I use them as centerpiece this time of year.

Lovely post, Simone. I think that the best mood lifters are simple things like these. A color or scent. Comfort, tastes. Stopping and making yourself pay attention and notice things really does help.

I'm glad to have a few minutes to catch up on reading my favorite blogs. I've missed it!

I can relate to what you said in some of your previous posts. If I had gone to that business for women course, I think I would have felt terrible. She certainly didn't sound very encouraging.

Glad you've been doing some crafting, too. Even if not everything you create is a success, keep going!

And thanks for all of your encouraging comments. It really means a lot to me!
