Constant

In a topsy turvy week I have been seeking the constants in life to keep me grounded.  Constants like the sun rising and setting each day, the cycle of the moon and the appearance of snowdrops in January.

I am not depressed but I am despondent and finding it increasingly difficult to deal with the challenges and disappointments that life seems to throw at me.  It is particularly bleak outside with a soulless sky and little to spark the imagination. This feeling is momentarily, I know, and that things will improve.

One of my problems at the moment is that I can't get excited about anything.  I am so bored and disenchanted with the World - dramatic I know but that is how I feel.  Curling up with a good book, eating chocolate or even having a spending spree can't 'fix' my situation right now.

  1. How about a cup of tea and a good film! That is what I am doing when I have written this. It has rained since I got up this morning (7am) and hasn't stopped, it is very dark the lights are on and its only 3pm!

  2. The World is in need of some TLC itself just now what with climate change and rampant consummerism and all the various problems. Constants are needed aren't they and yet even they are not as they always were these days! However since we can't stop the world and get off we must make the best of it and some healthy eating and if possible some fresh air sometimes helps in a way that chocolate or spendi8ng never can.

  3. The bleakness will pass but I know how you feel - so many bad things happening everywhere and so little to inspire. Constants are something to latch on to but I find the older I get that those change too. Hold on to those constants, Simone - brighter days and better times are just around the corner:)

  4. As you say, things will improve. Try to focus on what is good in your life and ignore the bad. I had to do that this week, and feel stronger for having done so. The bad thing has (somewhat) gone away. My snowdrops are in flower too!

  5. I agree with all of the above, it will pass Simone. Make sure there is some routine to your life including the boring mundane tasks in life. I find when I give myself some boring things to do, I so look forward to the nice things like crafting and chocolate.

  7. So lovely to see small green shoots emerging from the soil... Here in America's heartland the snow is deep, deep. Look closely, Simone. that's hope right there. And faith, and love emerging. Perk up. You have many friends who are holding you in their good thoughts just now.

  8. Hi Simone- I was wondering if you were OK as you have been quiet for a few days. This time of year is hard but I like to think of it as natures time to have a rest so that it will have the energy to spring to life once again. I think we should really hibernate like the animals do and sleep away the winter after storing our food. For me this is a time of relaxing, reading, thinking, planning and restoring. Spring will come soon and lift your spirits - we are all thinking of you. take care xx
