Thoughts on a Pillow

Thank you so much for the feedback on my herbal sleep pillow.  Whilst I agree that it needed an extra 'something' I didn't want to detract from the original purpose of the pillow which is to help induce a natural sleep.  I  had considered embroidering 'sweet dreams' or something similar to the pillow but any added extras inflate the cost of the finished product (using a businesslike ethos).

If the pillow was for decorative purposes only then I would definitely have embellished it in some way but I want it to be crushed and squeezed and loved!  It is filled with 65g of herbs with no added wadding or fillers.  I think it would be great to pack in a suitcase for your hols or to take to someone in hospital who is convalescing or someone who is lonely or in a home. It is very tactile and comforting.

Anyway, to get back to my conclusion about the pillow.  I have decided to keep it plain and simple.  It will have a luggage label attached that says just what it is.  I may yet embellish the label though!

  1. I am glad you made your own mind up about it - after all it is your pillow design.

  5. What a shame we can't scratch and sniff I bet it smells wonderful.
I did think of another idea which is not an embellishment as such but just a plain row of stitching about 3/8" in from the edge all round. However, I do understand your reasoning for keeping it plain and simple and I think your label sets it off nicely and I know it will be wonderfully pakaged having bought something from you before! x

  9. Hi Simone, yesterday I was going to suggest you to add some lace, but then couldn't leave you a comment because of work matters.
But today I'd tell you to keep it simple and just add your precious advice as you did on this one.
Are you going to sell them on your Etsy shop?!

  10. I'm glad you persevered and got your pillow sewed! I think it's lovely as it is. If it's something you're going to sleep with you wouldn't want any added texture getting in the way of being comfortable with it. For a future pillow you could always try a little patchwork (very simple, nothing too fancy) using a couple different fabrics together.

    Congrats and keep going!

  11. I think you are right about keeping this sweet pillow simple. The fabric is lovely and I'll bet it smells lovely. Any chance you'll be shipping to the USA? xx

  12. Hi Judy! I don't think I will be able to ship the pillows to the USA as I would be worried about them going through customs. I would be happy to ship my other items to the USA though. I just need to sort out shipping fees etc.
