The Seven Year Itch

As of yesterday I have been blogging for seven years!  I have had my ups and downs during that time sometimes revealing more on here than I probably should.  You can see my very first post here.  Unfortunately those first four commenter's never visit anymore and two of them sadly gave up blogging a few years back.  I used to be thrilled to receive a comment in those early days but used to worry that I wouldn't have anything to post about.  I even kept a folder with 'things to blog about' written down in it just in case I was lost for words!

In the last seven years people have come and gone but I have a regular band of people that keep showing up so I must be doing something right!  I don't know how this blog is going to evolve over the next seven years - I guess it depends what is going on in my life and what I choose to share.

To celebrate my blogiversary I am having a little giveaway.  I will be sending a Mini Celebration Kit - featured on previous post - to a commenter randomly selected in a weeks time.  It would be useful to know in the comments which post of mine has had an impact (if any) on you over the past seven years.

Thanks for reading and especially for coming back for seconds!

  1. Sometimes it is good to talk to 'strangers' and tell the your troubles. I think this is what bloging is all about, it is also a diary. Don't know about you I would never write a diary, well I start one but never finish it whereas this bloging lark makes you put your thought to 'paper' I love reading all your post, so there is no special one I'm afraid. But when I see your posts in my news-feed I always read yours first!

  2. I love the posts where you find parallels between what you're thinking and the natural world around you. When I think of your blog i always think first of moonlight and skies and beauty!

  3. Congratulations on seven years, Simone. I've just followed the link to read your first post. Great that you had four comments straight away it took me ages before I had a comment on any posts. I've been blogging for 10 years this month - I can't remember if you found me or I found you and how long it has been since we first started commenting on each other's blogs but I feel we are blogging friends now and I always enjoy your posts as they make me think sometimes as well as giving pleasure - especially when Giszmo is involved:)

  4. Congratulations and Happy blog birthday! I think I have been at it for 5 and a half years - where do the years go? I loved your idea of the friendhip necklace - do you still wear it? Please don't count me in for the giveaway - I have so many things I have received from so many bloggers it seems fair to let someone else win your gift.

  7. It's great that you're offering a giveaway on your latest project Simone, so yes please count me in! But I'm afraid having the memory span of a gnat makes it difficult to remember a particular post, but it's great to see how you always enjoy trying lots of different crafts - a bit like me really! x

  8. Congrats on 7 years in the land of Blog.
I also enjoy seeing your new makes and have been lucky enough to win in the past, so it wouldn't be fair to enter another giveaway. As I'm typing I can see your bloggers bead necklace, that was such a wonderful idea.

  11. Happy Blogbirthday Simone - I can't remember when I first discovered your blog but it was a few years ago - long before I even knew how to leave a comment. I remember you had Lavendar bags not sure what post that would have been. I am presuming you had made them. Then I saw Gizmo who must be the twin of my late dear cat Tiger and I was definitely a follower. Your mini celebration kits are so you.
    Congratulations viv xx
PS I am now going to see if I can find that first post I remember.

  12. Happy Anniversary Simone. I can't pick out a particular post but I know that I have enjoyed reading your blog for quite some time. I hope you continue to write.

Don't put me in the draw, I have more than I need of everything, thanks. xx

  13. Happy Blogiversary, Simone!!

I'm impressed that you had four comments on your first post (and they weren't just your mom!). I don't think anyone read my first blog other than my parents and a couple of my close friends. Your story of your birth (particularly the nurse on the bicycle) made me think of Call The Midwife.

I don't know if any particular post stands out to me, but I enjoy getting your thoughts on things, seeing your creative process and I love your garden posts. I think that it says a lot that although you have your ups and downs, you stick with your blog and your creative endeavors and you are always trying to find the joy and beauty in life.

I also value our friendship and all of the support and encouragement you've given me over the years!
