300 in 30 Days

Julie at Notes on Paper has had a great idea to leave 300 comments on blogs over 30 days.  You can read all about her reasons for doing this by visiting her blog. She writes intelligent, humorous and informative posts and is a pleasure to read.  I decided to take part in this challenge but it is actually quite difficult to find even 10 blogs which are current and that you can leave a response to!  I am usually quite good at leaving comments but have struggled with this today.  I am keeping a record of each place I leave a comment and so far today I have left 14 comments on blogs so I only have 286 comments to go over the next 30 days!  The comments have to relate to the post I am commenting on and I can't just say things like nice! or great! to help tot up the numbers!!!

I've been feeling jaded for some time now (like many people are) and thought that visiting some new blogs would give me a fresh outlook on things so Julies #300in30days challenge has come at the right time for me  At least I feel I am doing something and being proactive in seeking out new blogs in the blogosphere and hopefully making long term contact with some of them.

If you can recommend a blog for me to read and comment on - especially creative blogs - then please do let me know in the comments section below.

I don't generally talk about my family on this blog and none of them have their own blogs.  However,  I thought you may like to see a painting that my sister recently did of John Ruskin. She is self taught and painting has become her hobby. She has painted him in water colour many times but this was her first attempt at painting him in acrylics.  She doesn't think it is that good!!!  She is a massive fan of Ruskin and I think her passion for him shines through her work.

Well I am off to seek out blogs to comment on.  It is a full time job you know!

Have a great weekend!

  1. Morning Simone and thanks *so much* for sharing the challenge with your readers and for joining in!

Your second paragraph? Could have written that myself. It's good to know there are others out there feeling the same way and ... that we're doing something about it. Even if this isn't the entire solution ... it's *something*!

And yes ... the time element ... it's taking me so long to do this too. I think the main issue is FINDING the content to comment on ... my friends who've said they regularly leave this amount must have more blogs in their blog-reader than I do. I guess if the blogs just pop up for you to read it's half the battle. So, one of my lessons learned is to add more blogs to my reader.

I think your sister's work is lovely - she''s certainly captured a moment there. And how interesting to hear she's a big fan of his ... it's interesting content like that that I'm hunting around blogland for!

Best of luck with the challenge ... I'm waaaay behind schedule [this is comment 108 and I need to be at 200 by Wednesday if I'm to keep up!!]

I'll pop your blog on the the #300in30Days Pinterest board - maybe there'll be some blogs there you can dip into too!

Keep in touch, update me on your side of the challenge!

    Julie :-)

  5. That is a huge challenge, Simone and I wish you well with it. I have been busy commenting on blogs and replying to comments on my blog this morning and with the Scavenger Hunt and Five and Friday follow ups I've done quite a few but it is very time consuming. The painting is wonderful, what a talented family you are. Both you and your sister are very creative. Have a lovely weekend:)

  6. Hi, Simone. Your sister's painting is wonderful.

Sorry to hear that you've been feeling jaded. I don't think I would ever be up for such a challenge. I guess it's great to find more blogs to read and more possible online friends, but what a huge time commitment! I limit my blog reading to once a week and sometimes even then I can't keep up with reading my friends' blogs. Not that I have a huge list to read or anything. It's just that I try not to spend too much time on the internet. Is that ironic considering the fact that I blog myself? I don't know.

Anyway, here are a list of some blogs you might want to visit. Some are old friends and some I've just recently discovered.

Good luck with your challenge and I hope you find what you're looking for!

  7. Thanks for pointing me to Notes on Paper, I doubt I could manage 10 comments a day but will certainly make more effort and I like her energy.
Most of my favourite blogs have all but disappeared (eg The Custards) so I rummage around instagram for inspiration.
    Wish I had artist genes!
Sorry, like you, no time to rhyme...(oh, I just did!)xx

  11. Hi Simone -- Thank you for visiting my blog we bloom here and leaving a comment. I am here returning the visit! Such a nice project to visit new blogs and say hello. Blogging has changed so much since I started blogging in 2010 -- these days people come to read the blog, but rarely say hello.

If you are looking for a few more blogs to read to meet your challenge, there is a list of blogs I like on the right hand sidebar of my blog.

Cheers -- and best wishes with your challenge --

  17. Hi Simone! I haven't visited your blog before. I've come via Julie as I too am having a go at 300 in 30. It's certainly time consuming isn't it? I am at 40, having just started at the beginning of the month. I haven't been to very many new to me blogs yet, but will certainly be coming to your blog for ideas! Love the painting your sister did. She is obviously very talented!
