How Did I Celebrate My Birthday?

Today is my Birthday.  After a dull start the sun began to shine through the clouds.  I didn't feel like going anywhere so I got out the lawn mower and gave the grass the first cut of the year.  It felt good to be in the garden again.  Blackbirds are nesting in an old laurel tree, buds are breaking on the apple and plum trees and the air was sweet and new.  Outside in the peace and tranquility of my garden was the best way to spend a birthday afternoon.

Happy birthday Simone. The first lawn cut of their is always special - I love the smell of the new mown grass and somehow it heralds the summer.

Thank you for taking me into your garden, Simone. The slant of the sunshine, the green of the lawn, the enchantment of a cozy space all brighten my day. It is cold, grey, windy, and drizzly here today. But our snow is now totally gone again and there are small signs of spring all around. Hope you can keep the feeling of tranquility for days to come.
happy weekend.

Belated birthday greetings and why not spend one's birthday in the garden much better than having to get dolled up for some outing or another I'd say.

I'm so glad that you had a nice birthday, Simone.

Finally catching up on my blog reading and lovely to see what you've been up to. Your garden looks so beautiful here. Mine still looks quite forlorn!

Hope this year is a wonderful one for you!
