Dutch Golden Age Painting

My tulips this morning.  Their vibrancy reminds me of the paintings of the dutch golden age in the 17th century.  I really want to paint them.

  1. Those tulips are beautiful, I would love to see a painting of them. My tulips are not flowering here yet.
I have been having trouble leaving comments. I don't know if it's google or me (probably me), but the anonymous comment on the last post was me too. sorry about that. Hope you are enjoying your weekend and that it is as sunny where you are as it is here :)

    1. Hi Kim - when I try to access your site my computer flashes up a potential security risk from hackers being able to access information if I enter your site and also says the problem is with the site - not sure if this is why you are having trouble leaving comments - it may be from your end.

    2. Thanks Kim. I didn't grow them but bought them from Aldi! Are you on google plus? That has gone now so maybe it is something to do with why you had trouble leaving comments? Hope you are having a lovely weekend. x

    3. Thank you both, I've been having some trouble with my site too so it may well be connected. I may have to start a new one.

  3. They are lovely! And I bet you could paint them. Some of the students in my painting class the other evening painted the tulips I'd been painting and sketching all week. I was so happy with how their paintings turned out, even if some of them were less enthusiastic. Why do we have to be so critical of our own work?

Happy spring and happy birthday to you, my friend!

    1. Thank you for remembering my birthday Anne! It has been a glorious sunny day here in England with a blue sky. I really feel an urge to paint the tulips! I wanted to leave a comment on your blog but it seemed the comments weren't turned on. I wanted to say how much I loved the picture of you as a little girl holding the roses. :)

  7. Happy birthday, Simone. Sorry I'm a day late, but some days just get away from you, don't they? I hope you were able to celebrate... perhaps these amazing tulips? One of my favorite photos of Anne is of her as a two year old, wearing a darling floral summer hat and tiny floral tennis shoes (perhaps the beginnings of her love affair with all things flowers) bending down to sniff a tulip in similar colors that stood just about as tall as she was. Is it a wonder she loves tulips today? Sending good wishes.
