Painting with Gouache

I thought I would give collage a miss today and try out some gouache paints.

This is my first attempt at trying to reproduce a painting inspired by Dutch flower paintings of the 17th century.

I think it is the first time I have painted straight to paper without having penciled a sketch in before hand.

It's OK.  It's a bit raw. I just have to practice now.

I may even try to make a collage one!

  2. Absolutely lovely! I think I'm drawn to the dark background. Been using a lot of black in my quilts to set off the colors. Please keep going and sharing. A delight to see through your blog's window on a chilly, windy, cloudy day.

    1. Thanks Sharon! I like the dark backgrounds of the old oil paintings of flower arrangements. It does make the colours pop! It is chilly and cloudy here today too but we have had some welcome sunshine the last two days.

  3. You are no slouch at painting, are you? That is very good especially as you had not used pencil to start.
