Fruit and Veg Happening in the Garden

I gave the grass a haircut today.  Cutting the grass helps keep me fit and It's a job I don't mind doing.

Tiny Braeburn apples are beginning to form on my potted apple tree.  Won't be such a good harvest this year with only half as many pollinated as last year.

Cute, perfect pea pods on my dwarf half pint pea.

Strawberries set and ready to ripen.

Dwarf runner beans in the border.

 Courgette flowers beginning to form.

Plums!  Lots and lots of plums.

  1. Oh that is all wonderful Simone, such lovely plums and apples ... aren't the flowers on beans such a vivid red.
My strawberries are only in flower, no fruit set yet!

    1. The strawberries are an early variety Vivienne called 'sweetheart'. It is good to see all the things coming up. I am sure your strawberries won't be far behind. x

  2. How exciting to see all this! It seems it was just yesterday you were showing us how you cleared out the bed. You are being well rewarded and I'm sure there will be much more. Is that a sweet dog I see on the side of the yard?

    1. Thank you Bonnie. The sweet 'dog' you can see is my naughty ginger cat Gizmo!

    1. Hopefully Julia! I had two pots of courgettes damaged by frost one night this week so if I can keep them alive that would be a good result! x

  4. You are doing well in your garden Simone - my plants are not as far on as yours by any means and I have to keep them covered still at the moment with this cold weather and frost. Just lost two courgette plants in my mini greenhouse yesterday with the cold.

    1. Two of my courgettes got damaged by the frost Vivien but I am hopeful that they will survive as the middle parts look unaffected.

  5. Your garden is looking lovely and you have lots of different fruits to look forward to. I noticed yesterday that our strawberry plants have little fruits on them. Have a good weekend:)

    1. I've got many more plants Rosie but they are still at an early stage. I just wish it would warm up a bit so I could actually get to garden some more! Hope you enjoy your weekend too. :)

  6. Your garden looks like a joyous place. Wish I could spend a bit of time there with you. Once again your ability with a camera is amazing.
Happy to catch a glimpse of Gizmo. But why do you call him naughty??
We've been very dry this spring but are having a lovely rain today. This week we should see all our fruit trees and so much else bursting open!

    1. Hi Sharon. Gizmo was born in the wild and taken in by Cats Protection. He was cared for in a large cage in a garden with his mother and siblings. The 'carer' played quite rough with him and she used to lay him on his back and put her fingers in his mouth as she said he needed lots of human contact. Since I bought him home he spent most of his time hiding behind furniture and then when he came out of hiding he would jump up and bite me. He regularly scratches and bites my legs when I am walking. There are times when he is affectionate but other times his eyes blacken and he will just go for me. I know it is not his fault and I have grown fond of him despite the way he is. You would be most welcome in my garden Sharon. I have just ordered an English grown old fashioned scented shrub rose and would love to share its beauty with you! :)
