A Change of Heart..........and Crochet!

It has been a beautiful day here today. The sun has been dodging in and out from behind the clouds and it has been pleasantly mild. I managed to get quite a bit of cutting back done in the garden and generally tidying up. Now on to other matters. Thank you so much for all the supportive comments that you left for me on my last post. How could I ever think of leaving such a wonderful community of people. The truth is I couldn't leave you and Linden Grove is here to stay.
During my brief 'holiday' I have been buying wool. Lots of wool to make a blanket.

Now I really did want to use Rowan or Debbie Bliss wool but as I haven't crocheted for some years and not being sure how it would all turn out, I couldn't justify the expense. Instead I opted for some very soft Sirdar DK wool (well acrylic and nylon combo to be precise) at £2.50 for a 50g ball and some whopping 100g balls of DK wool at £1.00 each at THE POUND SHOP!!! I did have to rummage about a bit as not all the colours were to my taste but I did manage to get a few to my liking.

I started this blanket on Friday evening. I soon got into the swing of it again. Thanks to Lucy at Attic 24 I have rekindled my love of crochet. Lucy is the queen of crochet and her blog is full of lovely things she has crocheted and there are tutorials in the side bar too.

I am liking the hot pink next to the soft green. I wonder what colour I should choose next?

All will be revealed in time........................!!!

  6. Glad you're back Simone! I did a little in the garden today too and it was lovely to be outside and not be frozen to death or for it to be dark - it makes me feel much better. The crochet is looking good, the colours you are using look great together.

  12. Oh, I am so very very glad to find you still residing in Blogland!!!!
And a crocheting post too, well it just gets better and better.
Your crochet is beautifully neat Simone, it's lovely! I understand the financial dilemmas involved in buying yarn, but truly you cannot beat natural yarns to work with, and the feel of the finished article, especially if you think you will be creating something that will be in your home for hopefully many years to come. I would beg you to try some of the good stuff for your next project?

I think a blanket of greens, pinks and soft blues would look beautifully summery, like roses against a summer sky. So my choice for next-colours would be different shades of pink and a soft soft blue.

have a lovely day my friend

  13. I was so pleased to see your post pop up in my box this morning - glad to see you back. I'd love to have a go at crochet - I made something at some classes about 30 years ago and I've completely forgotten how to even start:) Your square looks lovely - great colours. I may just have a go - thanks for the inspiration.

  24. Love your blanket, I want to make one just like that but can't decipher even the most basic of patterns I'm such a beginner!

Thanks for your comment! I think I'll give them a bit of a rest for a bit and see how they get on in the spring. It's just a shame not having eggs and having to buy them. You defo get used to having lovely freshly laid eggs waiting for you in the morning!
