Pak Choi

In today's art class we were given a choice of items to paint. These ranged from plates of pink and white marshmallows to plates of jammy dodgers and custard creams. Now as much as I like to eat them I wasn't inspired to paint them as pictures.

Thank goodness for Pak Choi!

My art teacher could see that the plates of carbohydrates did nothing for me, so she got a couple of Pak Choi's out of her bag for me to paint instead.

They are such interesting vegetables with their curves and layers and varying shades of green.

I chose to paint this as a abstract just painting tiny portions and then highlighting the pencil with a fine liner pen.

I think I will buy some Pak Choi myself and paint a similar abstract again. I also hear that they are good in stir fries!

  3. Hear, hear! I love Pak Choi in a stirfry. It's great to use as an alternative in bubble and squeak too. Topped with a nice fried egg that is! It's certainly an interesting topic to paint, not one I would have instantly thought of! x

  4. I love that you chose to present these as an abstract, and that you painted just certain portions. The line drawing itself is beautiful, but your way of presenting it is striking.
    You're so talented, Simone!

  8. hello Simone

You are a very accomplished line drawing artist - I really love the simplicity of this, and the pockets of colour really accentuate the drawing! The drawing itself reminds me of zen work, check out Frederick Franck's work online to see what I mean!

    Much love

  9. I thin I'd have chosen Pak Choi over marshmallows too. Wonderful drawings, Simone:)

  10. Wow Simone, this is AMAZING!! I've seen people pay tons of money for pictures nowhere near as good as that!! I don't know what it is exactly about this painting of yours, but it is just so striking and amazing... well done you!!
