A Summers Eve

The above photo was taken a couple of evenings ago.  I am trying to capture happy moments in time to sustain me when times are dark.

Today is a dark day.  It is cold, wet and overcast. I feel down today.  I will spend some time looking at positive images and reading positive words.

I lit a candle for the first time in ages today.  A lovely blackberry scented candle.  It is a day for lighting candles, reading, curling up with a blanket and eating hot food.  I am lucky to have access to all these things and for that I am grateful.

  1. There have been some amazing sunsets lately haven't there? Hope that your mood will lift soon - it is easier to be upbeat when the sun shines though and like you we too have a dull grey day with rain and it's chilly too! The weather is bizarre this year isn't it but at least it is not boring!

  2. Lovely image Simone! I think we have the best weather in the UK today (for a change). It's always good to count your blessings, makes you realise things aren't so bad!

  5. A lovely evening picture, Simone. It is dull here today too with a little rain, although not as much as was forecast! It will freshen up the late summer garden and fatten the berries for picking or for the birds. At least you are seeing the positive side of things even though you feel a little down. Snuggle up and enjoy your book!

  7. For me, yesterday was wonderful, my birthday and the sun shone all day. Today it is cold and wet, so different from yesterday. I hope your mood lifts very soon.

  10. There have been some wonderful late evening skies recently but I'm not liking it getting dark at 9p.m. now. A lovely scented candle, a good book and nice food are just the ticket to lift your spirits:)

  12. Hello Simone,
What a lovely pink sky, you would think the weather would be settled looking at those whispy clouds but it seems very unpredictable everywhere at the moment.
Today is another day so I hope both your mood and the weather have improved, if not, then another day curled up with good food and a good book sounds like a very good plan, I always find accepting the darker days and not fighting them makes them pass more quickly. x

  14. The sky looks just like that around my parts these days. And yes it's grey and wet and depressing. Although there's a little bit of sunshine now in London and suddenly, autumn feels like lightyears away...

  18. Beautiful photo. Sometimes we just need to retreat from the world, light those candles, snuggle under the blanket and nurture our souls. Glad you took time for that.
