A Little More Festive

The house is slowly getting decorated for the festive season.  The tree went up and a garland went over the fireplace at the weekend.  I will gradually add to the decorations over the coming week.

I attended a personal development course today as part of a course on working in the voluntary sector.  We had to individually stand up in front of the group and talk about the personal achievements of the person we had been partnered up with.  Afterwards we were put into groups and members of the group had to say what our strengths were.  I was told that my strength  was the fact that I was very composed whilst giving my presentation.  Me composed?  I chuckled inwardly as I hate public speaking and felt very nervous about standing up and talking in front of a group of strangers.  Isn't it funny how we are perceived by others?

From now on I am going to be very 'composed' in the run up to Christmas and keep my ruffled feathers under wraps.

  1. I know just what you mean about how others perceivge us - I used to teah adults and my confidence was often remarked upon - moi? I feel lacking in confidence and often wish I was more self confident and then again I have been told I am very calm and don't let things rattle me! The people who tell me this must be thinking of somebody else and have obviously never seen me in cup smashing mode!!

    Your decorations look great.

  2. You're like a graceful swan then Simone, calm and serene for all the world to see even though you're paddling like mad underneath! :) That's ok we all have to paddle like mad but we all don't look serene!!

  3. Is that your tree? It looks very pretty with the baubles.

Well done for having the strength of mind to talk about yourself, I think I might have run away into a corner. I hope you remain composed throughout the festive season.

  6. Your tree is so pretty! I haven't done mine yet.

Composed is a good word isn't it! I talk all day to classes of children but hate doing presentations in front of the rest of the staff. I'm never composed!!!!

You sound like you're enjoying the run up to Christmas!
    have a good week!

  7. Isn't speaking in public one of the top fears that people have? It is certainly one of mine!

So, could you tell us how you look composed if you really are not? Are you a good actress?

  8. Your tree is very pretty, Simone. Mine is still in its box and the decorations still in the roof! I can't seem to get going with Christmas this year at all. I think I need to find composure for waiting at the post office. I've been three times now to buy stamps and walked away from the long queue snaking out of the door and round the corner!:)

  9. You're always hardest on yourself, Simone. You give, give, give to others and people respond. Whether they use the word calm, or certain, or generous, or composed, when they describe you, they have connected with your tender heart. Tis a gift, sweetheart.

  10. A lovely cosy image, Simone...just what I need after a bitterly cold day of howling winds, hail and sleet! I hope you stay composed, (and well done for not showing it if you weren't really!)
    Have a lovely weekend.
