Rise Like a Phoenix

I was blown away by the performance of the bearded 'lady' Conchita Wurst in this year's Eurovision song contest.  A beautiful man that put his heart and soul into singing such a powerful song.

The words of the song 'rise like a phoenix', about being reborn and transformed really struck a chord with me, but instead of rising from the ashes I am going to rise up from this pile of silk sari ribbon and transform myself into a fitter, healthier and hopefully nicer person.

Last week I began my transformation.  A couch potato no more, I went jogging around the local park and  then used the outdoor gym.  I am going to jog every other day and have already started to reap the benefits feeling fitter and much more in control of myself.

Since working towards my fitness, I have had the incentive to tackle the disorganised craft room again.  I know that a lot of my discontentment comes from having so much clutter.  I hardly have room to think let alone craft!

So, this is the beginning of my 'rebirth'.  The challenge I have been seeking - and I will .................

  1. Wishing you the best in your newfound spark of transformative inspiration. Each day gives us a chance to re-make ourselves. It's all about perspective.

And I don't believe for a minute that you "have no interests". You have many interests. Hang in there, Simone.

(Those ribbons are lovely. I can't wait to see what you make with them!).

Good luck!! It does feel good to take charge of your own destiny, doesn't it?

  3. Sounds very positive, Simone. You just reminded me that our school badge was a phoenix rising from the ashes:)

  5. Happy to read about your enthusiasm, Simone. You have deep talents and deep feelings as well. Remember that life is not all full speed ahead. There will be times when your battery feels run down despite your plans. This is your spirit's way of reminding you that you are a complicated being and each aspect of Simone needs attention and consideration. Enjoy the energy that gets you up and jogging and tackling that craft room but also relax and refuel when that energy is low. My husband the musician says it's the rests between the notes that gives the music its soul.
Sending my good thoughts your way.

  6. I need to get going with a fitness routine again - it seems to have taken a back seat in my busy life at the moment. I wish you well with both your fitness and clearing your craft room.
