Visual, Tactile, Tasty

I am attracted to things that are visually pleasing, tactile or tasty!  I was very fortunate to receive this wonderful hand block printed Indian quilt for Christmas.  This is the second one I own and I intend to add to the collection so I have Indian quilts all over the house!  They are so soft to touch and are beautiful to look at too.

The Christmas tree came down yesterday (the 12th night) and so I bought a little house plant so that I could have something green to focus on in the living room.  It makes me think of all the greenery and foliage to come in future months and its oxygen giving properties make me feel invigorated and alive.

Today's breakfast was a warming bowl of rolled oats cooked in water and topped with a layer of unsweetened almond milk.  I add a sliced banana, a small handful of raisins and a sprinkling of mixed spice.  It was just the thing to warm me up inside and to stave off the winter blues.

  1. Your quilt is gorgeous and your breakfast looks yummy. Sometimes I grate just nutmeg on which gives a lovely aroma. What is your plant?

  8. There's something comforting in putting away the Christmas things (my tradition is to do so on Kings Day.) Getting the house back in order feels good at this time of year. Yes, a new houseplant is just the thing. Living in the country as I do now, I so miss access to my favorite green houses and garden centers for a green fix at this time of year.
I absolutely love your new quilt. Blue, white, green, such hopeful spring colors... and oh those sweet flowers printed on it!
I'm impressed that you're continuing in your healthy eating, Simone. What a lovely inspiration you are to us all.

  9. It can all feel a bit bleak when all the decorations are down and we have a long dark winter ahead. I had an Indian bedspread once I got it in a fire damaged sale - the cloth smelt of woodsmoke and I thought I could just wash it and it would be fine - it wasn't the smell never went no matter how much I washed it so I had to throw it away but it was lovely. Yours is so pretty I am quite envious.
