Bulbs Blossom and Empanadas

I used the chickpea flour (gram flour) that I previously posted about to make empanadas.  They were filled with a mixture of tinned black beans and fresh chopped mango.  I didn't have the required salsa to put into it so used the last bit of pickle I had left in the jar.  The result was edible but NOT delicious!

Back in the autumn I planted up bulbs of white narcissus.  There are three different varieties and one variety is just starting to bloom.

Plum tree in blossom. Nectar for the bees.

    1. Hi Julie, they were edible and that will do for now! I am hoping that the daffodils start to bloom soon as they have been in bud for ages. I hope they are worth waiting for! I hope you are well. x

  4. The empanadas look tasty such a shame they didn't quite excite the taste buds. How lovely to have plum blossom already our tree is just getting its first buds at the moment:)

    1. I'll make the empanadas again Rosie but with a different filling. I think I overworked the pastry too as it was a bit tough! The plum is just starting to blossom but the apple blossom hasn't started yet. :)

  6. Your empanadas look good and any cooking takes a bit of trial and error. I like cheese filled empanadas. Your flowers are beautiful!

  7. Hungry for the start of spring here though we hope things will hold off for a while. April can be pretty mean and the last two Aprils have done real damage to early growth. So lovely to see your blossoms, though. I did spot my first yellow crocus today! And brought forsythia branches in to force. Pruned the grapes this morning and brought a few cuttings in to try to sprout. Just got to love this time of year. Hope you had a really fine birthday. Happy weekend.

    1. We have had chilly but sunny days Sharon but this weekend the weather is set to turn dull and very cold. Our clocks jump forward tonight and we will officially be in spring but I am not letting my guard down! We can have snow in April. I have forsythia in the garden, maybe I should bring some into the house? My birthday was really a non-event Sharon but I guess it is for anyone with a birthday at this time. I hope that you are keeping well at that lovely farm of yours. :)
