After the Sun................

After almost six days of unbroken sunshine, I find myself in a quiet and reflective mood.  By Tuesday the cooler, dull weather had returned and so negativity began to swallow me up.  Like the girl in the picture I feel as though I am in a dark forest and just waiting for the sun to come through again so that I might find a way out.

As the grey skies descend so does my mood.  I almost feel trapped under the dark and heavy cloud.  I know the sunny days will return and I have much to look forward to in the greenhouse.  I have been busy sowing seeds and potting on.  This year I will have strawberries, cherry tomatoes and a garden brimming over with flowers!  That is the plan anyway.

I have much to be thankful and happy for, I just wish that the moody girl inside me would recognise that.

  1. I fully understand what you are saying. I can be up and down like a yo-yo and it is so annoying, I really don't want to be like it but so many things affect my mood.
Poor Mr.T is never sure who he is living with. lol

  4. I think when you get bad weather after a spell of good weather it is hard not to feel disappointed about it. It is so easy to get used to the sun, there is no doubt it makes you feel better.
Hopefully we have many sunny days ahead.

  5. I know just how you feel. The ups and downs are always going to be there. The good thing, though, is the fact that the sun will come out again!

I can't wait to see your garden brimming with flowers!

  7. I fully empathise. I think to buy they're expensive, but I gather in some areas GPs will loan out light boxes - they're supposed to help? X

  8. I've lifted a few words I wrote back in early Spring on my garden blog. 'A garden at this time of year, brings with it hope.' x

PS. Please join me Simone in having a happy day today.

  9. I liked Periwinkle's comment there! After the sun we've had it does feel especially gloomy when we got back to our sometimes dull days - but remember the sun will be back! I hope you find solace in your wonderful creativity until the sun beams out again.

  11. Hope the sun shines again soon. You are going to have a lovely garden soon to spend the warm summer months in and to pick lovely produce and flowers from. Think of the grey days as preparation for the warmeer days and give yourself little treats. Pretty bright flowers on your table, a bright glossy magazine or a book that is set in the summer sun:)

  12. It's ok to feel moody on a cloudy day - we all do, as it's cloudy for everyone! I hope the sun comes again soon for us all. And remember this, your flowers won't grow without some rain clouds!

  14. I know the feeling so well, I seriously considered moving abroad because of it at one time. Knowing I have much to be thankful for doesn't help me either when I am feeling like this, so you are definately not alone. It will pass and the sun will come out again and in the meantime I hope you are kind to yourself and remember we have got all summer to look forward to. Hope you are feeling better soon. Cx

  15. Simone,
Just when I feel nearly drowning with "Poor little me" feelings, I remember to turn to your blog, and those of a few others I've come to know and love, and I'm buoyed up beyond words. Thank you for your lovely posting today. Tomorrow I begin what will be an 8 day stretch out here on the farm all by myself. I've never been comfortable being alone and so I am out of sorts just thinking about it. But I'll be looking in on you each day and when I do I know I'll feel as if I've just had a lovely visit with a friend.
    thanks.

  16. Hi Simone thanks.

I am ruled by the sun too.

My favourite saying is 'the suns out!'
It did return today, fingers crossed for the weekend. xx
