Where do you go to when you are not reading blogs? I am still an avid blog reader but so many people are dropping out of the blogging World. Blogging is particularly lonely in the summer months when people go away on holiday or spend more time away from the computer. Sometimes I think I am blogging to myself - but that's OK. I enjoy writing and looking back over my old blog posts to see what my interests have been and how I was feeling at the time.
I have been building up a book collection to read over the next few months. It takes me ages to read a book (so easily distracted) so this little lot should last me well into Christmas! I have read a few pages of each but not enough to give a review on any of them.
In a weeks time I will be on annual leave from my job. Time to catch up on doing all the things I love to do. Hopefully I will have some things of interest to report back on here.
I have a significant post coming up in a few posts time and it would be great if you could join me on that day! Keep watching! :)

I Miss You
Blog, I have missed you so. Since returning to work I hardly have time to write, read or comment on blogs. I hope this is a temporary state of affairs as blogging was so much a part of my life for almost a decade! I just need to get set into a routine again and then I will be able to blog more frequently.
I hope my friends in the blogging World are well and I will catch up with you soon!

Spent Flowers
I took this photo out on my long walk last week. The plant caught my eye as the flowers were all at different stages of development - some just coming into flower, some past their peak and others well and truly dead. If I was to compare my blog to the photo I would say that mine are the flowers front right of the picture - not dead but almost over.
For seven and a half years I have opened my heart up on here. I have exposed the good, bad and ugly side of my character. I seemed to have been unable to self edit and spewed my thoughts all over the page for all and sundry to see. Some people read this blog and I wish they didn't and there are others that I wish that did. My exercise in visiting many blogs in the hope that some would 'find' me proved futile. My guess is that I really don't have anything interesting to say. I feel spent.
There is a new moon today. I feel like learning something new or going deeper into a subject I already know. I may not be around much whilst I pursue this area of discovery.

A Different Perspective
Here is a close up of the honeysuckle in the previous post. It is very pretty and scented but I am not really a big lover of honeysuckle. It was planted by the previous owner of the house. The honeysuckle at the back of the house is golden in colour. It is so invasive and strangles most plants that it comes into contact with. The pyracantha has deep wounds in its trunk due to the tightening hold of its bines.
If you have read this post, would you leave a comment or just say hi? It is like a wilderness in blog land at the moment. I can almost hear tumbleweed drifting by. I do not have an iphone or ipad or a tablet or mobile phone or a laptop or a kindle or any other fancy device. There is just me and a big old stationary computer in a little room at the back of the house. I do feel that the gap between me wanting to make connections with people is getting increasingly wider with the onset of so much more new technology that I am not part of. I am on twitter so I can see other people's instagram photos that way but can't be part of it.
Blogging isn't instant. It takes time to upload photos from my camera and then write accompanying text that I sometimes think bloggers are taken for granted. Week after week I show up a bit like the eager party guest who arrives just a bit too early for the celebrations and is ignored for the best part by the other guests.
Anyway, just on a bit of a downer today. I may return to writing snail mail to people who want to remain in contact with me. It's more personal and I won't feel like I am spilling out my thoughts to uninterested parties who may have ended up on this site accidentally.

Lacklustre
I thought that after having a few days away from blogging that I would return rejuvenated and with a real zest for life again. Truth be told, I am feeling more lacklustre than ever! My life is so mundane that a walk to the local library would be the highlight of the month - and even then it is difficult to find any up to date books on the shelf.
I keep on wrestling with my thoughts - should I continue to blog or has this part of my life ended? But writing is my way of self expression. I could just write a private diary but by writing to an 'audience' helps me to write with a bit of structure and prevents me from scrawling down random thoughts.
There is very little for me to blog about at the moment. Gizmo had taken a liking to being brushed, my son has settled into sixth form, and I regularly make apple sponge for dessert. I continue to struggle with keeping my emotions in check and I am feeling quite useless at the moment. Could just be an age thing?
I think my posts are going to be less frequent unless I have been doing anything specific. I don't want to bore you and feel that I am losing much of my readership.
Until next time..................................x

The Golden Rule of Blogging
I have read so many times that the number one 'rule' in blogging is never to blog if you are angry, miserable or upset. Well, if I stuck to that imposition I would only have written a third of my posts! I have had many things rile me this summer from rude bus drivers to ignorant farm managers, costly roof repairs to major works ahead on the house, a disappointing summer border that consisted mainly of leggy yellow flowers and a wildflower meadow that did not live up to its promise. I have not been to the seaside again this year - will it live up to expectations when I do eventually visit? Probably not!!!
Anyway, just to show that I am not always dour and pessimistic, I thought I would share a rare picture my son took of me while having a good old laugh. It does happen, not that often, but it does.

I Blog Therefore I Am
As well as writing for my own blog, I love to read other people's blogs too and regularly comment on my favourite ones. Just recently a few of my favourite writers have decided to stop blogging. I am always sad when this happens. It is like a favourite author giving up writing books. I really hope that they don't give up for good. I think I will always be a writer as I feel compelled to do so. I write therefore I am.
Have you wondered what the picture of a cabbage is doing at the top of the post? Well, I didn't fancy putting up a picture of the snowy scenery all around as the novelty has worn off! Anyway, the reason for the cabbage photo is to illustrate a great quote accompanying an article in the Telegraph Magazine today:
'If it's a full moon the cabbages
keep on growing through
the night, so you have to keep
an eye on them'
The article was about growing cabbages and the many virtues they have. I can now imagine cabbages all around the country swelling to gigantic proportions on the night of a full moon!
